I know there are a decent number of you guys who have done some type of mod or emitter swap with Fenix lights in the past. I just went to an R2 in my L1Tv2 and was curious what some opinions are on sealing the head back up.
To begin with, I used some nice sticky Triflow synthetic grease on the o-ring and will (at least temporarily) wrap the threads with teflon tape. This should provide enough resistance so it doesn't loosen up too readily when changing from low to high. For those that chose this way, has it worked over the long run or have you have loosening issues?
Other options I can think of are:
threadlocker (either blue medium loctite or the low strength purple from permatex
silicone sealant - I think this one is a poor choice
Grease it - again, a bad choice as I could definately see loosening issues in the future although it would make openning for another swap a breeze!
Spoke Prep - This is used by bike mechanics when building wheels by hand. It prevents the nipples from freezing to the spokes while at the simultaneously preventing the nipples from loosening up. The only issue I see here is, well I actually don't see an issue. I wonder if its heat sensitive at all and if so how much?
