Well, which one is it ?

Edit: Changed the Title so no one else gets confused.

Re: Smallest Flashlight with 5W Luxeon

Right now, the smallest may very well be a KL4 head with an E1 body...

Re: Smallest Flashlight with 5W Luxeon

I was thinking about putting a 5w in an Inova x5t. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
So, ask again in a month or so. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Smallest Flashlight with 5W Luxeon

Commercial lights only or homebrew?

The McLux 2x123 with a BB750 and 5w emitter is pretty small.

How does the L4 compare to a PM6? The upcoming 5w drop-in modules for the PM6 look pretty promising.

Re: Smallest Flashlight with 5W Luxeon

The PM6 is much larger than an L4. The L4 is basically the same size as an E2e.

Smallest homebrew 5W that I know of is Elektrolumens Zorch, using a 9V rectangular battery.

Re: Smallest Flashlight with 5W Luxeon

The PM6 should throw a tigher hotspot than the L4, with its larger diameter and deeper reflector...

Re: Smallest Flashlight with 5W Luxeon

The KL4 on an E1(e) head is likely the smallest but it is not being driven at full power or for long. I submit the following for a *small* 5W:

L4-CR2.jpg

It's a franken light consisting of KL4, modified modified modified Arc 1xAA pak (now extension), E1 and non lock out tail cap. 2 CR2 cells provide 6 volts of power to this pocket wonder or blunder as the case may be. The light does seem to run at full brightness but I have no idea of run time.

In fact, off the subject of 5W, I actually put this back to the real franken-morph it was, which is a KL4 bezel modified with a 1W LD LED and there is a 150b Copia Li-Ion in the cell chamber. I know, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

McGizmo,

Someone needs to make a 2x123 twist pack for KL4...

Re: Smallest Flashlight with 5W Luxeon

Alan,

The O-ring can be exposed when the light is turned off *too far*. I have seen such an animal and it does make for a good small package.
