I am about to buy a good NiMH charger and some D size cells. I was posting this thread to maybe get some input on the brands I have chosen and input on things to consider before I spend my money. Any input would be appreciated.

For the cells I am trying to decide between some CTA 12000 mAh D cells or Accupower Evolution 10000 mAh D cells low discharge batteries.

For the charger I have narrowed it down to one. The MAHA/Powerex MH-C808M.

Are there any other chargers or cells I should consider or I have a picked some good ones?

I have been very happy with my MH-C808M charger and Accupower Evolution 10000 mAh D cells low discharge batteries. I purchased both from Thomasdistributing.com. I highly recommend both.

I've also been pleased with the Titanium D cells, and others have mentioned the Powerizer D cells. BatterySpace's price on an 8-pack of the latter is tough to beat.

dont get the CYA things oops thats Seeya 🙂 same difference, they aint 12amps and i got burned with some of them being weak, it sucked, and they self discharge much faster.
the AE10a cells kick butt, and are much much better.
the 808 style of charger works great.

Thanks for the input guys. I will be ordering the charger here shortly then I will make up my mind about the cells.

This is the charger and D cells that I use and I definitely recommend both. For me, the LSD technology is the way to go.

A cool thing about ThomasDistributing that I noticed recently - they have 2 battery storage cases for AA/AAA cells that will discount your shipping cost if you purchase them. One is a 4 cell case and one is an 8 cell case. The more you purchase, the bigger your discount.

Found it. Thanks for the heads up!

I am sold on the Triton II charger for its versatility, but that might be just me. It was one of maybe 3 chargers that could handle virtually all of my "around the house" charging needs.

I also have 6 x Accupower LSD D cells and a C808-M. I was sold on the Accupower due to the LSD factor, which I think is important.

Even at the inflated UK price for the charger, it still seems to me good value. High quality and very versatile with it's 8 independant charging bays.

Kinda even made me think a TK40 would not be so much of a pain with it's 8 AA's after all...

That said I have just bought an M1X so what I would really like is a good multi-bay 18650 charger!

Craig.

OK, it's a hobby charger. So you have to provide some way to connect the cells yourself.
It's not a big deal. I put together an overkill 12-bay cradle, but never bother to set it up anymore for NiMH, because it takes all of thirty seconds to just slap everything together with magnets and alligator clamps.

I also have the Triton 2... Absolutely love it... Charges my Nimh D for the P7 mag and then all of my AW 18650's and of course the 16340's..... So nice to have a single charger that does it all.... and yes, the magnets on the leads are the only way to go...

For about the same money you can get the Duratrax ICE.. Has a few more bells and whistles,

(it will charge a 10,000mah D in very short time..... I think mine is the 5a version, as I have the one that is AC/DC....

If your interested I would make you a good deal on it =-), shoot me a pm

Finally ordered the charger and cells. I ordered the charger from newegg because it was about $10 cheaper than Thomas Distributing. Does anyone know if you can get those Accupower LSD D Cells in packs bigger than two?

+1 Agreed. I have have good results with this as well.

where can I find accupower evolution D 10000maH data sheet? Doing research on D cells lasting capabilities compared to AA. Its interesting to find a rechargable D-cell that will last so long. That is not usually the case.
