I don't know if the bulb is replaceable or not.

Hi there - been a long time for sure!

The only other working PhD-M6 pack I am keeping is the 2nd prototype I built (Eric I believe had #1 - if you recall, it was Eric who designed and built the AMAZING battery holders that made the PhD-M6 possible!). If you recall those initial ones were made from white delrin material - after the first batch, Eric moved to the black delrin, which where like in the pictures in this thread.

I have a few left over parts, a couple of bad boards (I never was able to get them to work), so I use those for "show and tell" if/when anyone at work shows interest (few do):

I have tried, but I have not been able to get any of these left-over parts into a working PhD-M6 pack:

Boards had to be 100% functional and through a burn-in with a high-current MN21 before they would be used for a production PhD-M6 pack.

I was a broke college student when the PhD-M6 was being developed and produced, I remember drooling over hopped up incans, AW soft starts, and all the good stuff. By the time I had disposable income, all of the incan stuff had largely gone extinct. This will probably be the coolest piece of flashlight history I own!

Wow, thank you for your kind words. That was an amazing project with Eric - supper exciting for sure. Lots of prototyping to figure out how to "detect" the closing of the tailcap to initiate the soft start, the shape and duration of the soft start, measuring the battery voltage under load to determine when to go into moon mode, etc.. - so many "little" things to work out.

PS. It is somewhere in the main page for the PhD-M6, but remember to not leave the pack with cells just idle, as there is a tiny amount of parasitic drain while it sits. This comes from the circuit that is monitoring the tailcap closure.

Nope - it is like any/all other drop ins. Remove head, drop module, screw head back up. Doesn't get any simpler.

You can of course use any other drop-in, like an LED drop-in in the same body. Depending on the operating voltage of the LED drop-in you might be able to use a single 17670 cell (3.7v) or 2x CS123 cells (6v). And if you get this host bored-out, you should be able to fit the larger diameter 18650 cells, instead of the 17670 cell for longer runtimes (I do this on an old SureFire L5 host of mine).

I wouldn't mess around boring. The older bodies are even thinner around the tail threads. Too much risk snapping tailcap off.
Sony 16650, 2500mAh cell that will work with that drop-in with plenty enough reserve power. Not sure who sells them anymore, but I have a few in my stash.

I was in exactly the same boat for a long time. I'm absolutely chewing on the drywall and ripping up the carpet over not seeing the PhD-M6 listing before you did.
