SF B90\'s / 8AX

I bought an older 8AX a while back and some extra batteries from B/S/T and I wonder if I have the improved B90 batteries or the older ones that had problems.

The date codes are BK26 [Original] and CK27 [From B/S/T].

On the BK26 you can see where the three cells are under the blue wrapper.

On the CK27 it looks like there is a spiral "toilet paper roller" effect under the blue wrap.

Can anybody help identify these? Thanks.

I also went through the b-90 battery problem when I purchased my light new a few years past.I believe the ck-27 were from around their 3rd attempt to distribute better batteries. If I remember correct I received 2 ck-27 batteries about one year past from Surefire and they performed well for about 3 months.I had a problem with these also and they were replaced free with 2 B-90s now labled as cm-17.These batteries are performing very well and I seem to have no problems with several months of charging cycles.I am not sure about this as I went through several pairs of different B-90s and can not keep them all in order.Good luck with the light.I believe this is a fairly good light if you can get a decent pair of batteries.

CK27 had problems for sure.

The latest B90 batteries from Surefire are excellent. Long runtimes and they retain the charge well.

Last number I saw was CO-17, but anything new directly from Surefire will be fine.

The strange thing about this code tracking is that I've read reports at both ends of the spectrum for the same code. Then again, there are some that consistently get reported as bad cells.

My originals: CK47
Faulty for me and I've never read a good report about them.

My replacements: CK32
After having them for about 9 months they're still working great, meaning they're holding their charge well and last decently long.
I've read other reports that this is an "old batch" and they're junk. Well, luckily mine are good but that's the conflict I'm talking about.
