SF C2 Brass Body?

I just got another SF C2 and the body seems to be brass....nothing like a 6PL with the silver type aluminum....

I am no metal expert so maybe someone could chime in?

Could it just be a particularly yellow batch of Chemcoat (the coating on the inside)?

That's the first thing that came to my head when reading the OP.

I would say that you have just received an older bodied C2.

its not brass.
Its just the aluminum coating that they used on the inside. Their older lights used a yellow colored coating.

No no, the older process (the gold colored one) uses Hexavalent chromium (I assume alodining???) , which is really nasty stuff in the production process. The new one uses a different chemical process, probably trivalent chrome which leaves a clear film and is supposed to be very safe in comparison.

If you check out the A2 thread you'll discover that the A2 and other SureFires featuring their two-stage push button pressure switch have a specially selected metal alloy ring press-fitted into the body to provide the ideal electrical contact conditions, keeping the contact surface as low-resistance as possible whilst keeping it durable and corrosion-free.

Here is an example of a U2 body (of course this is the same body as used by the Kroma and the DEFs which are two-stage)

SureFire's PCBs have been lead-free for some time as well.
