Anybody can confirm if the Surefire E2e HA-Black is back in production?

I've seen a few E2e recently that were black anodize (glossy, type II finish similar to 6P). However, there seemed to be evidence that HA-III (similar to E2d is being released). Will they be a regular production item?

Thanks.

I've also seen several black SureFire E1e and E2e in HA III at a local store. They were in SureFire's new red packaging. It is evident that these were released recently, but I can't confirm that they're regular production items since they're not listed in the new 2005 catalogs.

Actually, the 2005 Illumination Tools Catalog specifies the following (pp. 44-45 of the PDF I downloaded):

Finish: Type II / Type III anodizing
Color: Gray Metallic/Black, OD Green

I am guessing this means that the Gray Metallic and Black finishes are Type II anodized while the OD Green is Type III Hard Anodized.

Here is a E2E bk on ebay, it says HA3 in the description. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If any one knows where I can get a HA3 Black E1E let me know please. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is not HAIII and if you read it they say available in HA typeIII.

Seller no help, but I just purchased a E2D and it is HA3, and the E2E on Ebay IMHO appears to be HA3.
The very bottom of the description states this"Available in:
Satin Gray and Type III Hard Anodized and black" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

True, but the E2D is only available in Type III hard-anodized, AFAIK. The E2e is available in both Type II and Type III anodizing. Also, I did see a black E2e on sale at a local Surefire dealer and the price was $10 cheaper than the OD Green E2e and I suspect the difference in price is because of the different anodizing.

I did try sending an email to Surefire customer service asking for clarification but I have not heard back yet.

What TADGear and LAPoliceGear were selling were actually Type II anodizing. It's relatively evident on their picture. But their body was the older 4-flatsides. The eBay auction seemed to be the newer body variety. ...so the mystery deepens...

hmmm whats is this all about???

We were just told Surefire had some E22-bk with type II anodized coatings... thats about all we know about them.

Sean,

The auction at eBay was the one the triggered this post. It seemed sold now. The buyer looks like a CPFer, so he may hold the answer to this post... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was just at a local surefire dealer. they had 10+ E2E in type II black, not HA.

all of the natural anodizing were HA. It's not possible to have shiny HA. but its' possible to have matt type II anodizing. so just because it's matt doesnot means it's HA. but if it shining, it means for sure it's not HA.

real HA will resist scratching from a hard knife

Well, just to muddy up the waters further, here is the email response I received:

Hmmmm... maybe all the old E2e-BKs were Type II and for 2005 they will be Type III HA? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Hey guys,
I have just acquired a black E2E. It came in the new red box style Surefire is using. I took out the light it is matte black. Not shiny at all. Upon closer inspection, the rear of the box says "aerospace-grade aluminum with military specification hard anodized finish". I have pics to post, just dont know how to. Hope this helps. If someone could let me know how to post. I will do so.
Regards
