My backup light, SF E2D's tailcap was stuck on the ON position a few days ago. I rarely use this light and have only recently purchased this about 2-3 months back.

I sent a quick email to SF and the next day they asked me to provide a shipping address so they can send me a replacement tailcap with no questions asked. At first I was afraid because I'm in Canada it might put extra delay on getting it fixed but I guess I was wrong.

It's unfortunate to have it failed on me but THAT's what I call service! :)

eh? See thats one reason SureFire is good. They really do mean it when they say "If it breaks, We fix it." on the box and manual.

"If it breaks, we fix it" ? Shouldnt it be more like "When it breaks, we fix it" ?

Good customer service is no substitute for low quality... thats what i wanted to say.

Yeah same thing happened to me with my L4 - switch got stuck in the on position - I emailed SF and a new tailcap was on its was to be, however since I live in New Zealand postage took A-G-E-S!!!

[edited: I retract what i said. Just going to get bashed by people if i dont remove it anyway.] Skip this post.

SF is not even close to offering the best in Customer Service in the flashlight manufacturer realm .
True they send out Tailcaps like a well oiled machine. It ends there.
And their QC is up and down like a Yo-Yo . Tere is no consistancy in CS or Quality with them now if there ever was.

Surefire is as good as it gets.

I've been using Surefire products for 15 years and
will continue to do so for many years to come.

Dropped a Surefire 9N about 20' from a tree down
onto a rock below. Still worked flawlessly but the
drop put a nice dent in the bezel. Sent it back to
SF and the replaced the entire head/lamp/reflector
assembly free of charge.

One of our Surefire M6's was at the blunt end of
some buffered #8 12 gauge shot. The protective
rubber on the tailcap was blown off. Because the
M6's are used in all types of weather, I sent it back
to Surefire and they sent out a new replacement
M6 tailcap.

These are only two of the many great experiences
SF has provided over the years.

If you use your lights hard and for their intended
purpose, no other light holds a candle to Surefire.

Is SF perfect? Of course not. Are there other light
companies out there who can provide the level of
product that SF does in terms of R&D, build quality,
and customer support? Of course not.

All this AND they are proudly made in the USA.

Don't like Surefire products, then go buy a couple
more of your chinese crap lights and tell all your
buddies how great they are. :ohgeez:

Surefire's service is excellent. So is their product. I have had great service from them in the past - even when the problem is my own fault! I once dropped my E2O from head high onto a concrete floor while I was standing on a ladder peering into a piece of machinary. The Pyrex bezel, needless to say, developed a small fracture. They replaced it immediately.

Certainly their have been some problems with the E series clickies and now some teething pains with the new L1 but lets not impune Surefire's entire history of innovation, R&D, and quality over that. They are still making quality lights right here in the USA.

FYI - I have also had over and above service from Pelican and Streamlight. Both have excellent warranties and service on par with Surefire.

I have to agree with seery. Surefire's customer service is the best in the industry. I was a Streamlight customer long before I was a Surefire customer. After going through Basic SWAT school and cracking the plastic bezel on Streamlight M3 I called customer service to inquire about warranty or even the cost of a replacement. Streamlight was not helpful and the price that I was given was so outrageous for one plastic part that it would've made more sense to just buy a new light. And that is exactly what I did. I purchased a Surefire X200A and then an X200B. Since then I have never used or purchased another Streamlight. Surefire's products work flawlessly and they stand behind their products. You get what you pay for.

Considering that more than a few CPFers who bought U2s got lights that didn't even work out of the box.... Well, let's just say I have a cheap, no-name, 9 LED, Made in China light that actually is better than some of the U2s floating around out there. Mainly because it actually worked, right out of the box!

And what does Surefire do if such an expensive light fails, right out of the box? "Send it in, we'll have it fixed for you in 6 weeks to 6 months when the needed part arrives." Yeah, that sounds fair.

How about, "Well, since it failed on you when you took it out of the box, send it in; and we'll send you a new U2 to replace it. Check your mailbox in a couple of weeks."

But that would eat into their profits and would only benefit their loyal customers, not the company. Then again, in the long run, loyal customers actually are good for the company.

In case you get the wrong impression, I own five Surefire models, and typically EDC an L4 that I absolutely love! I recommend Surefires (with the exception of the U2) to anyone who asks. Still, their customer service is a joke. The wait is usually even longer for overseas U2 owners!

And when it comes to Made in America. Surefire isn't the only game in town. Inova & PentagonLights being two examples.

I haven't been here all that long but I have had a Surefire of one sort or another for a while now. Their CS is good, and doesn't deserve the bashing that they are getting around here.

My L1 was back in a week and half. It works fine now.

Your experience was great. Clearly, not everyone enjoyed the good results you did.
