SF KL3 questions.

Hello all, just wondering if anyone knew the specs of the SF KL3 head? Lumens, runtime etc. I looked through my older SF catalogs but couldn't find any info.

The specs on the surefire have not been updated since the gen 1 KL3.

No.

The L5 (with it's KL5) is being updated. The result (what is currently being called the KX5) is a radically different bezel design, with a Cree XR-E behind a new TIR optic.

That's awesome. I've always preferred TIR optics over metal reflectors; there's just something elegant about harnessing all the light within a glass sculpture, and throwing it out.

Do you know if TIR lenses are more impact resistant than metal reflectors & pyrex lens combo? I'm quite curious.

SureFire uses tempered Pyrex windows with multi (anti-reflective) coatings regardless of whether the bezel has a reflector, or a TIR optic (BTW, I believe SureFire's TIR optics are made from cyclic olefin copolymer).
