SF L2 on rechargeables?

Re: SF L2 on rechargeable R123?

I know that PILAs wont work. Will rechargeable R123's work in the L2?

Re: SF L2 on rechargeable R123?

I don't have a L2, but my Gentos SuperFire 301 has similar problem on Pilas. My solution is to use bare cell...17670, this fits well into the light's body. And (this is just for my Gentos SF301) with a small magnet attached on the (+) pole of the cell for a close circuit.

Re: SF L2 on rechargeable R123?

after feeling how hot an L2 gets after 15 minutes on 2x3v cells, i would guess that it would set itself on fire with 2x4.2v rechargeables, that is is the L2 could take it in the first place.
i got a single rcr123 and stripped it to the metal,(only way it would fit) obviously the L2 turned on as soon as i put the battery in and it was scarily bright for 1 cell!
i wouldn't like to try it with 2 cells for fear of killing it.

So rechargeable 123's are physically larger than lithium CR123's?

Re: SF L2 on rechargeable R123?

Little bump...

So....as mentioned by "danceweed" above, the rechargeable 123's he used will not physically fit in the L2. Are there other rechareable 123's that will fit? If they do, can someone confirm that running the batteries will indeed harm the LED.

Thanks.

Re: SF L2 on rechargeable R123?

My unprotected cells will fit with no problems.
If you want a answer call surefire or try it out...
better not trying

Re: SF L2 on rechargeable R123?

Thought on the heat issue.

L2 is regulated (on low anyway, not sure about high), so not sure if the power source would make that much a difference to the operating temp.
