Howdy- I have a couple of the ShiningBeam s-mini's (an XM-L and an XP-G)... what I think are decent budget-type lights. I am getting one of those Fenix headbands with a flashlight clamp. I plan on using one of the s-minis for general headlamp usage when camping etc. However, there's a definite hotspot from these lights that I'd like to floodify or diffuse (without sacrificing too much brightness of course). Am I wasting my time or is there a technique or add-on I could apply to improve the quality of the light (softening the hotspot) for this particular application?

There is diffuser material for sale in the MarketPlace. Some people use plastic food wrap and a rubber band. Others find a plastic lid that is just the right size! I use a SureFire Minimus all the time. I own a bunch of headlamps, but the Minimus is my favorite. Used it today.
