While I can't be there, I'm being sent some bag-oriented pictures from SHOT Show 2009 (so far only from Maxpedition; I confess to being too lazy/busy to have pursued other manufacturers to ask them to send me shots--Maxpedition volunteered these):

The biggest thing from day 1 are two more color combos, Black-Khaki and Royal Blue-Foliage.

I did some pre-show previews as well:

I very much like the new colors on the Fatboys. Not that a real man like me would want an orange manpurse, of course. I'd have to find an excuse to buy it :D

"Manpurse" Ha! My girlfriend calls the black bag I carry my misc electronics, and chargers in, a manpurse. She gets a big kick out of, so I let her think it bothers me. :)

FINALLY... splash proof zippers. FINALLY Tim ! Nice stuff. Love the colors on the Fatboys.

I like the Orange and Blue both (maybe the Blue more--would have to see them in person). Wouldn't mind a "forest green" someday (although the OD Green is looking better than I remember), or even a yellow (mostly 'cause it's my favorite color, not because it's tacticool or technicool).

I was hoping to have more pictures from the show during the show, but obviously didn't get them; now I'm hoping to get some pictures post-show, and am awaiting Milspecmonkey's coverage (www.milspecmonkey.com--he posted that he was off to the show on the 14th, so I expect him to post something someday). I, as always, am particularly curious about the upcoming bags, or even prototypes of proposed designs.

I noticed some new nice bags from Tactical Assault Gear (Shellback LE line) and EAGLE. (I also picked up the EAGLE bag and filled it with some SureFire items already...)

SHOT is great for bag-lovers like us! :twothumbs

I just updated my article with a bunch of stuff I got from Maxpedition yesterday:

http://www.techiebags.com/index.php...pedshotshow2009&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50

Highlights include:

* Royal Blue-Foliage colors (Fatboy, Falcon-II)
* Messenger bags
* Active Shooter bags (one with magazine pockets, one with MOLLE)
* velcro inserts (and I was just asking for a hook-backed pen/pencil holder--maybe the new admin insert will do the job?)
* Ueberduffel monster duffel bag
* "Streamlined" laptop cases
* Tear-away folding map case / strobe-gps-compass holster combo
* Padded utility pouches
* New large-sized Versipack concepts.

Got some questions to answers that article engendered:

"1) All the new prototypes shown will be finalized and placed in our Summer 2009 catalog. Delivery will be in the June/July timeframe.

2) There are many more items also in the works not yet shown....we've been busy in that regard.

3) Prototype large versipacks are still being finalized, there will be come changes in the final versions that's why we didn't want to do high rez images. Also, I don't want "knock-offs" to appear before we come out with our original designs.

3) the actual royal blue we will be slightly darker but not by much. I'm also considering doing a dark blue with black trim on certain models as well, that looks really good.

4) Laptop cases have been heavily requested by our clients, and they will be fully explored by Maxpedition in 2009. The three streamline cases are just the first step. Expect in the very near future to see a full spectrum of products ranging from even simpler padded laptop sleeves all the way up to full-on laptop backpacks

5) Maxpedition is also working on several specialized lifestyle items to benefit diabetic and/or wheelchair bound US combat veterans who are already adapting our standard products for their uses."
