This post will be full of thanks to many people who made the SHOT Show such a wonderful event for me this year. For some, I actually know names and faces; for others, I know only company names; for all, even for those I unintentionally leave out, my thanks are sincere. This SHOT Show was my most enjoyable yet, and it was because of the people who worked to make it that way, not because of the "stuff" that was handed out (and don't get me wrong, there was a WHOLE LOT of that, and it was all really cool).
First, I want to give a HUGE thanks to MrMom for all the work he repeatedly does behind the scenes to make these get-togethers happen! Most of us don't know how much work it takes to set up things like this, even for as simple a thing as choosing a date/time/place for an event, let alone coordinating the schedules for the large number of manufacturers and distributors that contributed to MattK's party. It's a good thing that there are unlimited cell-phone plans, that's all I have to say. To top things off, he does this year after year, and, so far as I know, he does this with no prodding from anyone else, and for no financial remuneration; he does this because he has a passion for flashlights, and for the community we have here on CPF. Thank you, MrMom!
Next, I want to thank David of 4Sevens and MattK of BatteryJunction for hosting their respective events. Without someone to step forward, neither of these events would have taken place. I know that each of you contributed significantly to these in time, money, and product, and, at least for my part, that generates brand loyalty that is hard to beat.
I also want to thank everyone who contributed to the "goodie pile" at the BatteryJunction party on Thursday night, including, but not limited to (because I probably left out at least one), BatteryJunction, COAST LED Lenser, Fenix, HDS Systems, LRI, NiteIze/Inova, Rothrandir, Springboard Engineering, and SureFire. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and the magic of brand loyalty that I mentioned earlier happens here, too.
Thanks also to Polklifer for doing all the on-site ground work it took to finalize details for the BatteryJunction party. The food and beverages were yummy, diverse, and plentiful. Thank you!
Nearly last, I want to say thanks to everyone who attended any of the various meet-ups, get-togethers, and parties. I know that, because of schedules, not everyone could or did attend every event, but the surprise of who would show up contributed to the fun, too. Coming together as a physical community the way we do as an online community is what really makes SHOT Show so enjoyable. I really look forward to these, and it's always great to refresh memories of faces I've met, and to create memories of faces that are new.
And finally, many, MANY thanks to Greta and all the rest of the CPF admins, without whom absolutely none of this would have been possible.
