I am extremely pleased with my drop in, I decided to use it in my Naked Mag by Mac I guess you can call it Naked SST50. Now I what more and the list is LONG.

I am using an alumium 1/4 spacer with a IMR 26650 , the 4500k is a great replacement for the Q3-5A.

I am using my Dropin with an ordinary 3D Mag with a stainless Steel Bezel and Tailcap.Will Mac ever sold 1D body with Tailcap switch i will change the Host to that combination.

Here's mine in a black 4D. I'm running 8 eneloops, 4s2p atm and will be getting some Accupower D's in October (already spent Septembers pocket money on this).
I've got some beam shots for you also. All photos taken at F2.8, 1 sec. For some comparison I've also got an SSC-P7 and Fenix TK40.

As you can see it's got a nice wide hotspot that is so smooth I taste chocolate everytime I turn it on. It doesn't throw anywhere near as far as the TK40, but the beam is still bright and the spill is twice the size of the TK40 and brighter. If you study the photo's closely, you will see how much brighter the spill is, and it's HUGE. I Google Earthed the distance from the foot path to the tree in the pics, it's about 30 metres (100ish feet).
It's a beaut drop-in and I have nothing negative to say except there is a whine on medium. It's not too bad, but if I had to use it for any length of time on medium it would get annoying. Still, I didn't buy this for the modes, it's going to spend most of it's life on high.
*edit* I robbed the UCL from the P7 for the SST-50, so the P7 has a stock plastic lens with a few scuff marks. Still, even if it did have an UCL, it would still be stomped on by the SST-50.
*2nd edit* I went for a proper walk this morning and it's a great light. My new favourite. The whine I hear on medium is not an issue when used in the real world, and the medium level output is real nice as it's almost too bright on high. Seriously, I had to lift the light so the hotspot wasn't on the concrete section of my walk as the spill was more than enough light. In the bush though, the high mode is tops. Low mode is very good for up close work, and it would probably run for days.

It is weird that you hear a whining noise. This is the same driver that I use in the SST-50 EDC and I have not heard anyone mention hearing anything. You must have super ears

That's funny because I'm a piano tuner/technician by trade. I've trained to hear things other people don't.
The whining noise reduces some what after it has warmed up a bit. You have to put it next to your ear to hear it.

I tried a Melles Griot Aspherical and it would not focus. I really really like this Drop-in. "High" is too much light for walking around my neighborhood but that is why it has a "medium" and "low" setting. If you are on the fence about this drop-in I highly recommend it. I might even splurge on a C size if Mac decides to offer it.

I got my drop in today and put it in a 4D Mag. My dog walk tonight really allowed this thing to open up! The spill on Mac's SST-50 dropin is insane, and the 3 levels are very evenly spaced IMO.
