Because I teach a class at the local arts center, I routinely carry a pocket keychain pointer. One of those red ones that costs just about $1...we all know which ones I mean.
The buttons keep losing functionality, and always at the most inopportune moments...in fact, my current one started sputtering during Thursday night's class! I can only assume it's the humidity in my pants pocket (it's time for hot weather in Texas) affecting the circuitry or the button, but how could this be fixed? I'm sick of buying a new one, every time... I'd rather just take this one apart, and FIX it with better quality components. Any way to disassemble them, without a hacksaw? I suppose I could rig it in a flashlight housing...but would the current from three AA batteries fry the diode?
And, on a related note, are any of the eBay red pointers any good? I saw this one online, for just about $6...maybe spending a little more would get me a better unit? The price is certainly cheap enough...but it is still 6x the price of these keychains.
Thanks for the opinions, guys.
