I'm wondering about the origin of "silly" Chinese light maker brand names. "Sunwayman" and "ThruNite" come to mind. Are these English translations from Chinese names, that may sound "cooler" in the latter than they do in the former? I can imagine two or three Chinese logograms that mean "Man using the Way of the Sun" being translated in such manner into English.
Wouldn't it be better for business that such brands would market their brand in English in a more successful way? I aim to judge on performance, but such names even give me an initial prejudice that makes doing so harder. A brand name is usually the first impression. And you know what they say about those.
