Are the European Osram Silverstars really the same thing as the American Sylvania Xtravision?
Or are they more like the American Silverstar minus the blue coating?
The blue tint does take a lot of light out in order to give the look and they have to overdraw the filament to give a legal light output (and thus its short life). So if they made a bulb with this overdrawn filament without the blue coating, would this be *too much* light to be legal, or legal in Europe but not the US?
But it also seems like Osram Sylvania would 'spin' it so that they can peddle $40-50 blue junk without the threat of gray-market Osram Silverstar stealing sales the way blue tint steals light.
