Single cell to drain CR123A's?

Howdy - I tried searching but wasn't able to find much helpful information, so my apologies if I've missed it.

I have several multiple cell CR123A lights that I enjoy but don't have a single cell. I'm thinking about talking myself into a P1/2D-CE or E1L with the primary intent to fully drain remaining life out of batteries.

Is there any danger to the light by using it primarily with such purpose?

Any preference between the P1D, P2D, or E1L?

Thanks in advance!

Try the Dorcy "Super 1 Watt" for about $20 it's a nice light and a decent CR123 drainer. it's available in stores.

I think the P1 would be great for that purpose, though a little expensive for draining only.

Thanks, I'll have to check that option out.

While the justification to purchase may be to drain batteries, I'm pretty sure I'll predominantly run it on new batteries and just relying on this to buy a new light....

My real concern was whether running a light on low batteries would cause any damage over time. Seems that this may just be over concern.

The Dorcy "Super 1 Watt" is great for draining a CR123 & Pretty good on a new cell. Mine will light up long after other lights have quite.

+1. I really enjoy my Dorcy! I put a SF F04 diffuser on it and it makes a great floody light as well!

It shouldn't damage anything. Under driving an LED doesn't hurt, just overdriving.

Bear in mind that the Fenix has a boost circuit that cuts out when the cell becomes really low so even that won't drain it totally.

Draining 2 batteries in series can lead to nasty explosions, so don't do that. For battery drainers, check this:
