Is someone working on a single driver solution for the Seoul P7 LED?

Aside from the Triflupic, The D2DIM is a perfect "single board" driver for the P7. I really like the D2DIM.

Keep in mind that the D2DIM is not actually a convertor/regulator. It just adds PWM dimming.

The D2DIM driver is a PWM direct drive controller. It does not regulate current or limit current, thus it is the user's responsibility to ensure the current to the LED(s) is limited externally. This may require either a series resistor or an external current regulator.

So if you use it with something other than a single li-ion with a P7 you will still need to add a convertor, etc.

Another thing about the D2DIM that makes it great for those considering direct drive, is the 16V max. input. Personally, I would prefer buck/boost regulation, but DD is not totally out of the question for a 3 X P7 w/ 3 X Emoli project I have in mind, and this controller would be excellent in that scenario.

Plus it's cheap!

Right it is perfect for direct drive and or put in serie with another driver (like the 8 AMC7135 board) ?

BTW, I consider that 20$ just for a PWM dimmer is a bit expensive...:thumbsdow

But I also appreciate its ability to handle up to 16V

George's boards are nothing but quality & IMO are worth every penny as well as the D2DIM! Could you point to another PWM dimmer of the same quality & nice UI for less? I don't know of any.

neither do I ... it's the only dimmer I know working at 16V

I tried the D2DIM with 10xAMC7135 & 8xAMC7135 powered by 1 AW C li-ion & I couldn't get close the rated current. Guess there's no other way around having to use 4 NiMhs with those boards.

Yep... quite normal as with 1liion and AMC board, unless the bat is fully charged (4.2V), you are at 3.7V minus the AMC drop out (0.12V) thus around 3.58V which is so close to the led VF...

A good solution is to have 4 Nimh or 1 NimH + 1 Liion see here for results and safety issues

I found there're two under development by different person at one China flashlight forums. One is DD with PWM dimming for one li-ion cell and another is a single mode buck driver for two li-ion cells in series.

The DD with PWM driver seems to be released. It's multi-mode and with low-voltage warning. It's made by ldch and I'll ask KD to see if he wants carry it, too. Should be under $5. :D

The buck driver is still under development. I forgot the initial test results and couldn't find the thread now. :ohgeez: IIRC, it's 3A at LED side and 1.69A at battery side. The heat generated is very small.
