Hey I am one of few lucky people here that get to go to church with a fellow flashaholic, he is by far in another class of flashaholism than I and was kind enough to let me use his Mag 85 for the week:drool: that being said I was wondering what I could do to say thank you for letting me use his beast of a flashlight. I have already considered ordering some new bulbs or batterys for it but I only have it for a week and shipping takes for EVER:ohgeez: perhaps transfering his internals to a new host form walmart....but it mingt have centamental value....I dont know but I would really like to say thank you to him in some form or another. perhaps someone here can figure out what I could do

What is your budget?
What lights does he not already have in his collection?
Is he into knives, lighters, multi-tools or other survival/outdoors kinds of activities?

As you mentioned the light might have sentimental value to him. I would not modify or replace or alter the light in any way before returning it to him. If you know a little bit about his light collection, maybe we can suggest an accessory or light you can purchase locally that he might appreciate. If mail ordering something and it isn't from near one of the coasts or overseas, UPS ground and Priority Mail should only take 2-3 days.

Well I know that he EDCs a HDS light of some sort, not a twisty, but something else. His boys EDC surefire E series's....he has the mag 85, a Malkoff Dropin in a 2d mag, and an amondotec Hid light (not the n30)....thats all I know.....My budget is up to $50

Return the light to him in exactly the same shape it came to you in, express your heartfelt thank you, and let him know that should he ever need to borrow something that you will return the favor in kind.

That is how friendship works... Your aknowledgement of his generosity and promise to do the same will mean more than anything you purchase.

+1.

You can hint around and see what accessories he is "planning" to buy, and purchase and gift it to him.

Given your luck with lights, he should be thankful if you return his light in the same shape it was in when you borrowed it.

This is a very nice idea, and I'm sure you'll think of something good to give Skillet in return for his kindness.

Meanwhile I will closely monitor his activity on CPF. What punishment do you think I should give him if I catch him reading this thread? I shall be merciless, lol.

I would have a new mag body engraved with something nice. That particular light may not have a story behind it yet. So make one with a new body. Good luck with the ideas.

What Lee said Nemo.
I wish more young men had the character you possess Nemo. You work hard for the money you have and I doubt Skillet would want you spending it on him anymore than his own sons spending all their money .
The fun you had with the light and returning it safely is all he would want/expect.
I dont know what kind of batteries that beast takes but if just basic ones how about a fresh set in it when you give it back. Not expensive yet returned better than received?

You could always get/make/find one of those velvet lined cases cut out specifically for the light to nestle in with some holes for spare batteries etc. Something that showcases the coolness of the light. Just an idea. :grin2:

+1 on the SS bezel But a week is not enough time to have it shipped from Hong Kong What I would do is return the light back to him, order the SS bezel and when you receive it, ask him to borrow the light again. Come up with some excuse about borrowing it again, install the bezel and return it to him. Another option is CPFer "cfromc" has a interest list in the Marketplace for XCapeCap tailcaps and bezels for the Mag

This a good idea or you could order the bezel and have it shipped directly to him.

I hope Skillet doesnt think you broke the light and ask how to repair it in this thread.
