Your perfect light is a Peak Matterhorn single LED Ultra-power - Stainless Steel body. If you get the "keychain" style body, AND order the optional tail switch, you would have a perfect white beam, pushbutton tail (or twist on), for a total price in the $50 range. It will last forever, and it gets 4+ hours runtime at high level. It is more than bright enough for your purpose. It is only a single battery, but the keychain style body is long enough to use for your purpose. I'm sure you can find a small pocket clip somewhere for it.
Peak also makes a 2AAA model, but I don't know if is compatible with the optional tail switch.
