Small Strobe / Dazzler light?

I'd like a small light like a Surefire Backup or Lumnamax that has a strobe or dazzler setting. anyone make one? Reliable lights only.

Try something like ThruNite Lynx. It's got about a thousand lumen dazzler strobe, and like its predecessor the Scorpion it's been deemed reliable (at least for non-military purposes). Just don't dazzle yourself with it accidentally, the thing is plenty bright.

Quark Tactical Burst Mode XML2 head on a 1xAA or 1xCR123 body running an IMR 14500 or 16340 for an 800 lm pocket rocket :D

Either a Quark tactical with the XP-G2 emitter or a Klarus XT1C should be a good choice. (Both Klarus XT series and Quarks are available in CR123 and AA 1 or 2 cell formats, but the Quarks will be smaller.. A 2xCR123 Quark is very comparable in size to an EB1.). The XM-L2 Quarks have slower strobe rates than the XP-G2 Quarks, and the difference will be noticable for your purpose. The user interface of Klarus is tough to beat, with instant access to high and strobe, and easy access to medium and low. The Quark Tacticals can be programmed so that strobe is immediately available. I program mine for strobe with the head tight and maximum with the head loose.

If you have opinions on strobe rates, be sure to look at the specs

For me, agree with Bill above -- the interface for the XT1C is tough to beat. Frankly, I think it blows everything else away. The main tailcap button always come on on high, a smaller tailcap button always comes on in strobe (and, no matter what mode you're in, pressing and holding that button brings you instantly back to strobe again). So you can instantly, with one hand, choose the right mode to use. Run with an 16340 instead of a 123A, you end up with a lot of light and a pretty impressive hotspot for such a little light (far hotter than any XML based light, regardless of overall lumens specs, and I'd argue a hotter hotspot is more important in many usages).

I have been searching for the most effective strobe light for a long time. I have purchased every single Quark 2*CR123 'Tactical' light ever made. I have settled on this one mainly because you can program the light into two modes (one with tight head, the other with loose head). If I'm going out for the evening, I tighten the head and it is in strobe mode (my setting). This means there is one big button in the back, and if I press it, the light will strobe. There is no fumbling trying to hit a second button, or a side button, or two presses, etc. Under any sort of duress, one simple button press will be a big advantage.

Currently I'm carrying the QT2L-X with 2 RCR123's, and it strobes in 'burst' mode, which is advertised at 780 lumens with standard CR123's, probably a little higher with my RCR's. I just wish it strobed at a rate similar to my earlier versions (R5 or XP-G2).

This light is relatively small, which is another big advantage over the competition.

I am hoping to see something hit the market that resembles the "Dazzler" that the military is developing.

Lately I like the Klarus for belt carry, where I can easily keep the light oriented for good access to the strobe button. For pocket carry, I like Quarks, because I do not have to worry about how the light is oriented in order to get strobe.
