I have been holding out on buying a SF L1 Cree, But last night i pulled the trigger. OMG im so happy!!! everything is perfect. Size, Brightness, Runtime, LO and HI setting is great. Now im thinking of buying another one. Am i nuts for thinking of buying a second one right away???

The best part is, $121.00 + tax = $129 and change and the guy gave me an extra battery coooooooooooooooool.

Also, If i think that this is great, would i really S#&%T in my pants if i send it to Milky?

thanks

Don't buy that second one, save a little money and buy an old-L1 Milky version if you can find it. Think you're blown away now? HA! L1's of all versions are my favorite lights.

I have 5 L1's now(1 square sided, 2 TIR, & 2 CREE), and I am looking for another square sided one to have a Milky conversion done to it. I want to keep the other square sided 1 original because I think it is a great little light the way it is. Go ahead and pull the trigger and get another one, you won't regret it.

I think the L1 is really nice. Very nice beam, lots of pros about it. I'd spend some cash on a Milky L1.

But... there are some form factor problems that make me never carry it. It's too small to carry with a clip, last thing I want to do is throw $130 down the drain cause it fell out of my pocket. The knurling (on mine) is too aggressive, I don't want to cut a hole on the inside of a pocket. I think it's typical surefire aggressive knurling, but in this case, when you put a clip on it like this, I don't think it should have super sharp knurling.

Maybe I can just find a smooth body to replace mine.

I have a question, do the executive line of lights have more subtle knurling?

Mine is slightly on the green side, but it doesn't bother me, and should be fine outdoors, etc. I just got a L1 Cree last week. I like it, but I haven't been carrying it a lot because it's kinda rough to clip and unclip it from my jeans pocket. I find my P2D in a holster is easier to access for EDC use.

Once in hand though the L1 feels great, and the 2-stage tail switch is a great UI.

I'm interested to hear how the new E1B performs, as that looks like something that would make a great EDC with the smoother finish, for those of us who don't need to hold onto a light without hands covered in blood, water, oil, grease, etc. :)

IS it still a lottery on the emmiter?? mine look a little green..... or they all look a little green?

Mine is more green in low mode than high. Just a little green in high mode, but who cares.. It's lights my path and makes sure I don't trip over anything getting there..

Try getting a long clip for the L1, I've put them on mine and it makes it much safer clipp,ed to the inside of your pocket, and it's not bad in the hand either.

divine...don't feel bad about losing $130, i just lost an ML-1 ($205 to replace today, dang)

Chuck, where did you get a long clip? Feel free to PM me if you have a source, i REALLY want one so i don't lose another ML.

For those of you that have the greenish tint....send your L1 off to Milkyspit and he'll make your light very white! 165+ lumen for the high and 3 lumen for the low. On rechargeables, it gets as bright as around 180 lumen! If you have the Cree model with the optic, he'll make the optic focusable...so you can have the nice spot for throw, but can also make it a wider beam for upclose tasks.

Edit: pic removed

I have a Delrin tailcap in that picture...but you can also try my other solution if you want your light to stand and use as a candle. Cap Stand

The tailcaps pop up occasionally in the B/S/T forum in the MarketPlace...or you can start a WTB (want to buy) thread in the Buy forum and someone might sell you one. Oregonshooter no longer makes them for sale. Maybe someone else will make them again one day since there's a pretty good demand for it.

PM'ing milkyspit is as good a way to reach him as emailing...Yes, he is a busy man, but he'll get back to you as soon as he can. I'll PM you his email address. Tell him I sent ya...he'll take good care of you! :)

Edit: I just HAD to use this new picture I made!
