So i got a R2 WG (from DX),,but it seams rather blue, does it get whiter as times goes ??

I have a WF 600 aurora with a Q5 in
removing the reflector and doing sealing tests ,it is much whiter than my new R2 WG
The R2 only gets 0,77 amp
The Q5 i cant say (its glued together :hairpull:) but i get a reading of 3,83 volt over the LED

i have a SSC P4 + a K2 + a C2 with a MC-E they all seam much whiter

I think i remember reading about some one doing burn in ?? let the Led`s run (heat sinked )for a longer period before they got used ,,or am i dreaming

I did plan on using the R2 in my WF 600 + a driver that did push the LED to 1,4 amp ,but i want the white color :mecry:

I have heard of DX mislabeling their LEDs. One user said they purchased a Q5 or R2 led and when they tested it in a light sphere it was only a P4. It is possible that they are fudging their tint codes too. You may have ended up with a WC tint or even colder.

It would be best to find the reference you speak of. Otherwise it is just rumor and that can spread all kinds of mis-information. Been guilty of it myself so don't take this too harshly.;)

I just bought two R2 WG tint from DX and I sure hope it's the right thing. Is there any way to really know?

Well, I have a Q3J Luxeon that's been test running for 5 years straight as of this month, and it has gotten less blue over time, so I think the answer to your question is yes. The only problem is you'll need many thousands of hours to get a noticeable change. And since Crees are a different animal, the tint may not shift as much.

I just got a bunch of R2 WGs from DX, and they are VERY blue. More emphasis on 'cool' than white.

Color is just as bad as any cheap, mini-LED based flashlight.

Please cite your source and their measurement method used to arrive to their conclusion. As mentioned, rumor and speculation are not appreciated.

The 11836 and 6090 drop ins do not specify a tint BIN, they both have a slight yellow tint with the 6090 having a hint of green. My 17593 and 14442 specify R2-WC emitters and both are more pale white than the 11836 or 6090. I for one do not believe DX intentionally forges emitter BINs or color tints, based on the items I have purchased.

11836, slightly yellow, R2-no color tint specified

I remember reading it somewhere on this board about a year ago. I have tried a search but could not find it. If I do find it I will post here.

I have noticed one thing about the greenish WG type Cree's........the harder you drive them, the whiter they get. On low amperage they are defintely greener.

Push 1200ma into it and see what it looks like.

Oh ya', it doesn't matter where you get the Crees, I've had them from several places, and within each reel the tints will vary. On the last order of WD's I received from Cutter, about half *appeared* to be WG. Had to pull them out of the light and replace them with some others that I checked first. That's the tint lottery.:mecry:

I had a R2 WG (not from KD) & every single one of them had a green tint. None of them appeared bluish like WC looks.

I'm very hesitant about ordering Crees & Seouls from DX or KD even if they show a picture of the bin label.

I've ordered USXOHs from KD last year a couple of times. First five I got were consistent in tint but did not look like SXO tint. Were more like SWO which turned out to be better. Not sure about the vf though & I never checked. Second order of USXOH were definitely SXO tint.

I got Q5 WCs from KD a while back & these seemed spot on.

KD currently has R2 WG listed here. Picture of the label shows R2 WG but the stars I have my doubts on. I thought all the newer Crees were all assembled overseas and have the silver around the die. The one pictured shows the yellow around the die. I never seen R2s with yellow around the die. I don't know for sure but I thought all R2s had the silver around the die. Some of the comments state that the tint is greenish though which is consistent with the bin.

I don't like to make purchases where I have doubts about what I'm getting. I rather pay a bit more & purchase from someone where I know exactly what I will be getting.

I agree with Greg, Crees do vary in tint from the same reel from time to time. The R2 WGs I've had that were from the same reel veried too but all still had green tints to them & never blue.

You confuse KD and DX. They're completely different stores.

You must have some luck to get good emitter from them. Some people received bluish WG but others have beautiful tint (more yellowish than greenish) and low Vf (3,4V@1,5A:faint:).
