I'm in the process of ordering an Xeray HID from Xevision, I wondered if anyone can help me get my expectations set at the right level :D
The first and last HID I had was an AE Light PL-24 (24W HID around 1300 lumens), what can I expect to notice in getting this new one? I hope to be getting the 50W version.

Also where can I get spare bulbs? I am in the UK and it is prohibitively expensive to order a bulb at a time from Xeray.

Any input appreciated as I wait until its shipped!

thanks, Ian :)

Have you never seen a +3200 lumen HID-light ???

Ok, to give an impression: If the PL-24 is like :duck:, Then the Xeray is like :duck::duck::duck::duck::duck: !!!

Clear enough???

Regards,

Ra.

you're really not helping the wait...:mecry: ;)

thanks, Ra , I think I'm getting excited now :popcorn:

Ian :)

It's very hard to describe without pictures. To see a 50W HID compared to other lights, check out my "Got Throw?" link. My Coleman has an 8" reflector, so it has more throw then the XeRay. However, you'll get a good idea of the overall brightness.

Very nice quality light. I have a 75 watt model but I understand the 50 is quite the shiner as well. You will be very happy.

Haha! Good description. :)

and the 50w is over 5000 lumens I think....

Well I started using the "Scrapbook" Addon for Firefox browser, and when I bought something or was interested in a specific topic, started putting a snapshot of the webpages in their own folders. The move to the CPF Marketplace screwed up many of my links, but having a copy of the first listing page made it easier to find all those that were in the Group Buy section. Seeing how many links there were on XeRay, I just copied them to a post as a reference.

My FiveMega folder is large, as is my captured AWR informational posts and webpages. Nice thing about the Scrapbook addon is it keeps all images, and HTML formatting so it looks identical to that day...even if the image or movie was since deleted.

If you don't have that plugin, get it. If you don't use Firefox, change to it now. It resolves all the "
" freezing problems in a post. Another shortcut is click on a member's name like XeRay and find all the threads he started here and at the new Marketplace.

thanks for the words everyone, its sounding like I should be pleased, and LuxLuthor, wow:huh:, that is an excellent resourse for the prospective and current owners of Xerays

I got about 5 threads down the list and I will have to come back to it tomorrow :D

What bulbs do you all use? Standard replacement or something else?

thanks, Ian :)

I should label those thread topic links.

I always used the quality 35W GE bulb that Dan sends with the XeRay 50W, and was very happy with it. Some who bought the Philips DL-50 "Fatboy" bubl used in the 75W BarnBurner feel it looks a little nicer. Keep in mind those Fatboy bulbs are likely $150+ -- if you can find them. XeVision has some of them, but they may already have an intended use in other projects.

That was some really itnteresting mods that master of the beam did, very cool. Thanks for the link, I didn't know there were more than one variations of the DL-50.

Ian :)

ianb,if you are getting the exeray 50 ,do you remember the light you purchased from me,well multiply that by 30+ lumens !:poke:if that is not good, get the BB+ if you can.:nana:

TITAN1833, nice to hear from you, it will be an even bigger multiple now as I've sent the XR-19 for misering!

I hope to get confirmation this week if it has all gone well and it may be on its way to me, the only problem next is if customs get it:sick2::green::sick::sigh::ohgeez: 17.5% on the cost of an Xeray is quite a lot :(
