Hi Guys,
I was about to start a new thread with a status report but I might as well add a post to this thread. It is reasonably on topic.
I have a first article sample of a Ti 27L head that I messed with on Maui. So far, I have not found the right combination of O-rings to ensure a proper seal when the light is taken down to about 25' underwater. This is not intended as a dive light nor will it be claimed to be water proof. None the less, I want the design to be right! So far, I have had limited success but also a couple floods! :green: With a flood, you can say goodbye to the reflector if it is salt water. You can also say good bye to the converter if it is salt water. The LED is reasonably indifferent and of course the Ti host doen't care one bit! Well most of the heads are probably machined by now so I need to nail down the seal. The shop has the drawings for the same PD rear end that was made by another shop and provided in the Ti PD run. I may go for a different power pak though. It will depend on the viability of a design using some components in a configuration that is beyond their intended use. I hope to turn a proof of concept in the next day or so. I have some serious time constraints and dead lines on the near horizon to deal with.
I have a 3 car garage over stuffed with tools and widgetry here in Berkeley and a 1 car garage on Maui that will become my new primary base of operation. A 20' container is being delivered next monday and I will have next week to get my lathe, small mill and numerous other tools (large and small) packed up and ready for a boat ride.
I am trying to keep open for simple orders on the PD and 27LT as the revenue is most needed and I feel bad about just plain closing down completely. I also want to keep the wheels turning on the ongoing projects and future ideas.
I shut the door on too many who were turned away with this last Ti PD run and after the dust settles and feedback comes from those who did get the Ti PD's I will probably do my own poll to gauge interest in a second run. These as well as the Ti 27L both will require the Al heat sink. I found in this last build that the majority of these sinks on hand are out of tolerance and now I am faced with getting replacements as well as additional pieces machined and anodized. I have no idea what time this will take or how many parts I have that could actually be used. :green: I have no clear time lines at present, only the desire to move forward as quickly as possible. Move forward as well as across an ocean!
Anyway, I find escaping to CPF as a welcome break from real and self imposed deadlines but the escape doesn't bring any progress to those deadlines and I need to focus as much as I can and more than I do!
I need to get going!!!!!
