While waiting for my Micra to arrive, I've been reading about these bundled after-market optics packages. I already have a UCL to replace the stock plastic lens, but will a SO17XA reflector fit in the head without modification? As I have not seen in person what the Micra's stock optics look like, I'm assuming the reflector has a much smoother beam appearance and a bit more flood than an optic like the Fraen LP or NX05 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

yes, the reflector drops right into a longbow...but i think there is a centering o-ring included.

the beam is a tight-ish spot with nice bright spill, much like my TL2 LED.

Just received my UCL and reflector. Is the assembly supposed to be:

1. bezel
2. o-ring #1
3. UCL
4. o-ring #2 (for centering optic?)
5. SX017A (do I need to trim the legs)
6. LED head + body, etc.

hmm, i didnt get a centering o-ring. I wasn't really impressed with the beam shape, maybe thats the problem. Mine beamshape isnt smoot at all, its weird and full of artifacts. Is it suppossed to be really smooth, or are the artifacts normal

I emailed flashlight lens about the problem and here was the response:

Chris,
You'll actually use the stock o-ring to center the reflector. The o-ring we
include is actually meant to be a gap filler on the outside between the head
and bezel. From the bezel back it goes - bezel, lens, o-ring, reflector.

If you have any problems, let me know.

Chris

This set up works very well, and gives a nicer beam shape (mine is still full of artifacts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif), much better than what I was getting. I thought that the O-ring supplied was a replacement for the stock o-ring, and that was how I was using it.
