SO17XA with Lux V

how about the heat issues? I thought those were plastic?
just to go further off-topic, sorry.

Yeah, I ordered from elektrolumens. I think he has the older "tuna-can" style.

BTW, do these fit into a grey kit?

Brad-alike, I just put one in my Arc LSHP (new version w/legs) and what a transformation. If this was available way back when, the Arc 4+ might not have been necessary for a while longer. Similar beam with slightly dimmer but also slightly bigger hotspot, and way better than the original beam. I believe you can use the TC (tuna can) one as well, just trim the skirt high enough to clear the soldering and wiring, etc., on the Arc's Star.

Tyler,

I just tried a proto sample on an X3 and it has hint of the donut like some of the KL4's do. Charlie had mentioned that IMS has just used enough texture to remove artifact and it may be that with the 5W's we could be wishing for a bit more. I have a "customer" after me for a black McLux original with a 5W in it so I will try to do a build and see what I get. Perhaps standing the reflector off a bit will be required? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Sorry to go off topic again, where can the new version with the legs be obtained from? It seems like this would be the best option for refitting an Arc LS or KL1 - no filing needed.

balrog,

IMS is expecting them any day now and they will immediately be sent to Future Electronic for sales and distribution. In the mean time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif

McGizmo, thanks. Thought they might have already been available through another outlet as there are several people who've posted about them. Ah well, guess I'll have to wait too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif

Bill, URL is http://www.futureelectronics.com/. Search for "SO" and you will see a listing for the SO17XA, SO20XA and SO27XA IMS reflectors among other items. Not sure what the model numbers will be for the new parts with the legs.

Several people were lucky enough to get samples balrog.

I see the site lists order quantity as 20 minimum....

Is it just me or is that one of the toughest sites to navigate on the web? You have to know the part number to search? Or am I missing something?

Bill

Oh yeah,
Back on topic, I did do a 5W install and test and posted about it elsewhere. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I was curious about fitting those over a LuxV when i ordered the 3 i got from elextrolumens.. what an awesome reflector, and for my purpose, way more useful than if it had legs... I bent the electrodes up and the connecting wires came through the heatsink, straight up... there was plenty of room up inside the reflector for the new position of the leads to the emitter.. and handily enough... no conductive coating on the plastic up inside there.

The word i heard about putting them on the V was the quad layout of the hot spots on the V only works well with certain kinds of reflectors, and not sure if the SO17XA would qualify, i just know it wasn't listed as 'compatible with'... but that didn't stop me from putting a 2000 motor in my brother's 97 saturn ;-)
