Solar LED light/charger?

I am interested in getting or building a combination solar charger and LED light.

Here is one from China I found on the web:

I e-mailed the manufacturer...but no response. Anyone seen something like this?

I've also considered building my own.

1. Use the Solar Lithium Ion battery made for solar cells (3.6v)

Solar battery for Motorola Startac

Seems like it would be easy enough to add an LED to this battery.

2. Build the whole unit from scratch

I'm looking for a site that talks about the best solar cells available (most energy for the smallest size).

Anyone got info on this topic?

I have 2 of these... I have used them going on 3 years ..in parallel, to charge a small 6 volt motorcycle battery.


This high powered solar charger will charge two nicad batteries of the same size at the same time, (D, C, AA, AAA). It puts out about 150mah and about 5 volts. All of the other solar battery chargers we tested were unsuitable because their voltage was too low.
