Was about to order a Solarforce L2M in Sand but in looking at some of the pics in the "Show your Solarforce" thread I'm starting to wonder.

I was hoping to get one like the pic below (taken from the SF homepage) but some I saw looked more glossy gold than matte tan to me. If you have one of these, what color is yours and do you like it? Are the 18650 extensions available in Sand?

Thanks

Aloha offroad! I have 2 L2M's (black & gunmetal) and one silver L2. After seeing that sand colored one, it makes me want to get that also. My favorite color of my lights is gunmetal and then black being a close second. The one thing I learned while owning my SF lights is that most of the accessories are mostly in black. Just something to keep in mind before buying.

Some accessories I have are the L2-E18 extension tube (black & gunmetal), L2-S5 tailcap, LT-1 lantern attachment, 2 way pocket clip, L2-PC2 SS pocket clip and the L2-B1 SS flat bezel.

Let me know what you think about that sand colored L2M if you do decide to get it. It could be my next SF purchase.

I have two L2's and a L2i in sand and they are all virtually a matt finish ... Gorgeous colour and far nicer than my plain black L2i.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer Good question ! ill just need to count them ...

Hmm let's see now ---- 1 2 3 - I have 14 L2's ATM so that will be no 15 if it arrives .. [ When it arrives ] Or my 25th P60 Host ....

I bought an 3xAAA SF that is gold - supposed to be HAII, it has a blasted surface finish that gives it a shiny matte look. Sand - not unless it's 80% placer gold.

How many drop-ins do you have for all those?

ATM 25 Drop ins , so when the Sand L2M arrives , I have a 5 mode Q5 I can put in ..

I really got it for the new Cree emitter [ XM is it ? ] , so I see cree is looking for testers ATM to test the XM and XP-G S2 I think .

I might have to apply for free samples for testing .

Thats what I'm afraid of getting, I want one like the pic I posted at the top of the thread not a Gold one.

My Desert Sand Solarforce L2 is more gold than sand. I've lived in the desert since 1957 and was in the Army Reserves for more than 20 years. I've never seen a sand colored item look like this! Get it in black...this is definitely NOT DESERT COLORED, tan, nor coyote brown!!!!

I've sent you some pictures of mine ... Three sand and one black ... I've modified my two L2i's to take 18650's ... The black is easier to match than the sand ... I prefer the L2i because of the recessed tailswitch ... It just looks better ... Shame I couldn't get a better paint match ... I might try to get a piece of stainless tubing for the body insert.

Thanks for the pics, looks just a bit more gold to me than the sand pic at the top of the thread but very nice color and matte. I also like the recessed tailswitch, the body of the L2i sure looks fat compared to the L2 though.

I'll probably have to get one soon.

The L2i body is 28.2mm diameter and the L2 is 25.5mm ... The heads are interchangeable but the tailcaps are not ... If I could match the colour the modified L2i sand would be perfect ... The spacer is painted with a gold paint , so the sand colour is definitely not a gold colour ... The sand in these pictures looks more grey than it really is ... The black is certainly easier to match than the sand colour , but I just like the sand.

I might try to get a stainless spacer with a clip attatched ... That would look much better.

Maybe the switch on the L2 can be altered to be recessed so it can tailstand ?
