Hey guys,

I just put together an Aleph I head. The light engine is a VXOS 5W/BadBoy750 combo. The tint is nice and white. It also looks as bright as any of the W bin lights that I've built recently.

I have also turned a spacer for the head out of brass. This spacer fits between the LE and the head and insures a hole-less beam.

I'm asking $155 for this head to include USPS Priority shipping in the CONUS. Global Priority is an extra $5.

Will this work with a Pila 168S or 150S?

I've used BB equipped lights with Pilas and haven't had any trouble, but a couple of people have said that using Pilas killed their light engine.

I can tell you though, the S Vf is really low, so the converter won't have to work as hard as it usually does to boost the voltage from the Pila to run the luxeon.

Lemme go throw a Pila in this thing and see. I'll be back.

Well, I ran it for 20 minutes or so and it ran fine. It was drawing 1.8A from the Pila which is a bit more than it was drawing from the 2X123 which were in the light. It was drawing 1.6A from those, but they weren't fresh cells.

The light got hot, naturally, so I shut it down.
