Re: TK61vn V3.5

Vinh,

Can you still do a TK61vn V1 mod on these for any of us thats on a budget but 600K+ is plenty of throw for us? If so how much if we supply the light?

Yes still selling V1. People order all the time. The mod is $150.

Re: TK61vn V3.5

Good day,

What is the approximate wait time to receive a Complete TK61vn V3 6500K XML2 U3 Dedomed once you have been provided the funds ($330.00)?

Thanks and regards,
John C.

Last I heard it was ~ 2 months. I believe it is because the drivers are difficult to get.

Re: TK61vn V3.5

what is the runtime on high lumens TK61vn V3.5 ??? so as not to burn led

Here is Vinhs answers that he gave me.

1.Does it have any step down? Thermal or timed? Thermal

2.If it is timed when does it start? 10 minutes? 12-15 at room temperature IIRC

Keep in mind it will depend on the outside temp. This was done indoors ~72F which is room temperature. The colder the weather[like now where I live] the longer it will take before the THERMAL step down kicks in!

Re: TK61vn V3.5

Just received my TK61vn V3.5. I am truly impressed . Definately worth the wait. This is my first vn modified flashlight. I did a quick comparison with my unmodded SR95SUT. Here was definately a noticable difference and terms of throw. The TK61vn also has a more yellow light. FYI I also discovered a firefly mode on the flashlight. Press a buttion quickly for L1. Press and hold the buttion for firefly mode. When the button is released - Off. Another interesting thing I noted is the flashlight did not get as hot a I expected after leaving it on Turbo mode for around 2 minutes. Thanks heaps Vinh

Re: TK61vn V3.5

Just get a K40VN - I'd bet in most practical situations the throw is about the same :)

i have the m25c2vnt and the throw is quite close to a k40vn. 360kcd vs 400kcd and my tk61vn v3.5 throws a ton more. it makes the m25c2vnt look like its on low mode lol you would be surprised. 400kcd to 750kcd is quite the jump.

Re: TK61vn V3.5

Is "750kcd" the measured output now? I thought they were only averaging in the low to mid 600's range. I might consider one of these in that case.

JMPaul measured the v1.9 prototype at 741kcd. I'm sure there is some variation, but indeed, the newer version has about 10% more throw than the first version.

Re: TK61vn V3.5

Thanks. Even with some variation, this is getting close to twice the throw level of my TN31mb and hard to ignore. Tax refunds are close at hand and who knows, maybe by then Vinh might even have a v4.0 in the works.

I am going to have to disagree with you! Twice the throw as the TN31mb? I think you may mean Twice the CD's?Yours is probably ~ 400Kcd/ 1382 yards of Throw. Mine is 470Kcd which is ~ 1500 yards of throw.

Twice the cd of 400Kcd would be 800Kcd which is somewhat close to 741Kcd of the TK61vn!

He made mine after his run was done. My was upgraded to S2 Bin[XPG2]

LET'S JUST BE CLEAR ABOUT THIS: 99.9% of the time when someone says "twice the throw" or "half the throw", what they are referring to is CANDELA not the stupid ANSI beam distance. The beam distance measurement is an arbitrary stupid number DIRECTLY derived from the candela number.

Sorry to freak out a bit but I'm soooooo tired of people getting all technical when someone talks about fractions of the throw.

When someone says throw, they almost always mean CANDELA.

lol!!! Do you understand the difference?! You have to be kidding me with your concept of "When someone says throw, they almost always mean CANDELA?! They are Two different concepts and Two different numbers.

That is NOT being technical! It is CONFUSING when someone says TWICE the THROW because THROW and CD'S are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS! What I just said is being CLEAR,your concept will cause confusion! ;)

When someone says "throw" and they are well informed, that is EXACTLY what it means! NOT CD's.
Cd's are used to measure the throw.

p.s. Way back when I was confused by this and got corrected by TEEJ. I was NOT offended. He helped me understand the difference!

I think your "Thirst" is calling for a few adult beverages!:D
