Soldering protected lipo 3.6 cells

Does it work? Or am I at risk of damaging the protection circuits? I am not sure where they are physically on batteries, but I can see where they may be, waiting to die from soldering heat....

When I think of Li-Po cells, I think of pouches or square cells. They are unprotected and have tabs that can be soldered.

On the other hand round cells are Li-Ion cells and a protection circuit can be added at the negative end. The heat from soldering would most likely damage the protection circuit. Better to spot weld.
