Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Hi guys,

I have been in contact with a company who does sophisticated camo coatings for hunting and military gear. As a result, I got back some Aleph lights that are a bit different! These parts were hard anodized initially and then subjected to a multi layer process in which a base paint, in most cases a camo film and then finally a real cool clear coat has been added. The clear coat has a velvet soft (almost rubbery) feel to it. This same system is used on rifle barrels and stocks and is said to be quite durable. These lights really feel good in the hand, IMHO!!

So they all have DB917's with TW0J's and 60 ohm tail switches.

The price on these is $245 ea. Price includes priority or Global priority mail.

If you would like one of these, please stake your claim clearly here and send me an E-mail with your selection in the subject line and include your name and mailing address as well as CPF handle in the body of the E-mail.

I plan to get more of these in variations of color as well as head and tube configuration. I really like the feel and the look is refreshing after anodize for so long! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

EDIT: If you would want one of these without the LE, you can get it "empty" for $155. The switch is included and I am not interested in gutting these beyond removal of the LE.

I'm in for #3, assuming that's a SFT.

Email on its way.

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Hey Don,

Please hold Number 2 for me while I think over whether or not I really need another one of your lights for myself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I'll drop you an e-mail tomorrow afternoon with the rest of my parts order, and a final decision.

Thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Jeff! You should be getting your light tomorrow! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Welcome and hang on to your pocket book! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Bob G, Yes it is a SFT. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks Newbie!

Endeavour,
You have #2 held for 24Hrs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Don,

Thanks for the welcome and I am looking forward to my lights arrival here in the desert. I will take a few pics of it and post them up here on the boards. My wife will be watching my pocket book, but if I mak a bunch of lanyards I can always have some extra play money!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happy14.gif

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

I'm interested in #2 if Endeavour passes on it.

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Nightlight, Endeaver has E-mailed me with some other plans and the light, #2, is available. Stake your claim for it if you want it. I'm happy you're interested in it but now you get a chance to express more than interest. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif of course you may tell me to pound salt with that cheeky attitude I exhibit! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Yikes, you really killed my name that time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Certainly is a nice light, but given the options of choosing between the shiny chrome, and desert camo... Well, I won't be going hunting in a desert in the forseeable ever, so I took shiny. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Either light is a nice grab though, certainly took me a while to clear up my indecision.

Enjoy the light, Nightlight. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Well, through no fault of your cheeky attitude (more likely having slept on it) I have decided to pass on #2,though I am sorely tempted. One Aleph 3 will have to do me for the time being.

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Nightlight,
No worries!
Endeavour, sorry! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Don,
Very nice flashlights /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif But I can't buy one because I prefer saving my money for your next production...McLux III-PD /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Can you still thread an EN tab in? I like these and they are growing on me, but will there be other choices of colors in the future even if just different camo?

I'm very interested to hear how these wear. It would be great to have a light that doesn't show wear, other than Bare Al that can be polished.

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Bogus1,
I have not tried putting a #6-32 set screw in the threads but if there is interference, the threads could easily be chased with a tap to remove the excess film.

Regarding choices in colors, on one hand, I enjoy coming up with variations in form and appearance. On the other hand, The Aleph system, even if it were restricted to one finish, is a major PITA due to the choices! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Yes, I am getting some more kits done in some solid colors that will have the clear coat that these lights have. I may get a couple more in camo as well. I am NOT taking special orders on this stuff and what I show is what will be available and these will likely be very limited in number. Most of the camo patterns have been designed by others and to use these, licensing or royalties need to be arrainged. Beyond the few "test" pieces, I have no plans to jump through the necessary and legitimate hoops to be able to sell a couple lights with a camo pattern that is owned and controlled by others.

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

I can't believe no one has snatched up the Tan one, if i wasn't saving for a Gladius i would be all over it...
McGizmo, can i come out and work as your shop-slave for lights? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Something to think about - take down the checkering for the clear coated lights you may do. It (the clear coat) has an almost perfect "tackability" for a hand-held object that requires a firm grip on occasion (and it looks a little funky/blobby where the color/coat sort of half buries the checkering.)

Not that I'm complaining /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Can you do car colors? I saw a current generation Civic the other day that was this perfect sort of pewter-gray ...

Re: Some Aleph 3\'s with desert camo for sale

Bob_G,
The lights have already been anodized so the knurl is *there*. The base paint and then clear coat does a nice job, IMHO, of softening the edges on the knurl without detracting from its appearance. The outfit doing these for me has Desert Tan, OD green a gray and a black. I hope to see samples in the four colors. These guys use the base colors for the camo work and are not into automotive finishes or colors.
