hi all of you!

I am begining a new mod project and need your input based on your experiences & items owned...

First of all, it seems that all these are based on the same design.
At what level are parts interchangable?

My project involves making a MG mounted demo long range flashlight (will be an excibitor in a reserve units exercise). Recalling the 500/600 DBS, Tiablo, Spear comparisons the 500/600 LED reflectors do keep their own, though they are not on the top....

BTW the -500 & -600 reflectors are the same thing, aren't they?

So...my main concern is having a tailcap comaptibility with the Surefire 6P pattern....The solarforce 600 is advertised as using the same aftermarket L2 switches, ergo do we have surefire compatibility with the Solarforce 600 version? (the main purpose is accepting a tape switch)

what about the compatibility of the Ultarfire -500 & -600 versions?

Now I know there are more and better choices but i want to keep the project managable cost-wise especially since I will be giving away this flashlight (and some others too)

For the 2 reasons staed I have excluded the Kaidomain DBS lookalike cos the tailcap cannot be fitter/modified with another switch (no ground bath throught the switch retaining ring)

I am open to suggestion on the tiablo KD copy...

At this point I really tend toward the Ultrafire 500..it is the simplest route to go, and needs only a change of LED and driver...the short tube helps with the CR123/RCR batts that will be used, and in a pick the tailcap accepts a transplanted tape switch.

Note: as far as I can tell the older Cree Q5 had a smaller die...I have some and intend to use one (theory being that I will have a tighter beam). But is there a chance I will be misssing some output if the newer oneshave a less Vf?

So am I missing something?

Thanks beforehand

Bump bump

and with new questions

1. What is the body diameter of these flashlights? more than 26mm

2. Could you have a look at this?
http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=1109

there is a Removable extra section on the body, or is ti fixed? I would really like the 3 cell option...

thanks, kostas
