Sooo... How do you EDC when not attached to keys?

Alright finally got some time to go through all this... lets see:

@Kramer: I sincerely hope I do not get so sucked into CPF that I get a belt bag. That will be the end of my dating career :duh2:

@combinatorix: I thought about that already but one of my sets really isnt a set at all its just a little leather case wrapping my key fob so there doesn't seem like theres a logically way to connect a flash light to it. Looks like this:

41z8V4b2x%2BL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

@strinq: I think once I get the Mini 123. If its too big for EDC I'll purchase an AA variety. I just love the lumen output from the 123s vs AAs.

@mossyoak: probably going to let it ride freely in my pockets but I just gotta make sure I dont misplace it which I usually do.. My leatherman and my swiss army have gone MIA because of me misplacing them after random use (they once had duty attached to keys but after switching to 3 set system they came off)

@mvyrmnd: I forgot to mention to everyone that I cruise around with iPhone left pocket and key(s), money clip, leather card case in the right pocket... so adding more to this equation seems like a bad idea. Again I wont know until I get the mini 123 and see how it feels 🙂

@JCup: I hope it works out too! I haven't thought about the watch pocket.. is it hard to pull out? Does it look/feel funny with the bulge there?

@mcnair55: Work place is quite casual and it will be rare that I wear a shirt with pockets... so that option isnt viable.

@skillet is there a better way of concealing it?? I'm not a fan of something around my neck all day. I dont usually wear jewelry...took me forever before I got accustomed to wearing a watch LOL

@RWT1405: So with the holster you're able to conceal it?

@was.lost.but.now.found: I wish that would work for me...unfortunately like with my keyfob above I will go naked without any other keys. I have actually been locked IN my office before...that was embarassing :twothumbs

@DigMe: yeah I wa sjust thinking the lack of a clip will be troublesome. I was just figuring it would be a good first light to guage approximate size.. then purchase my next one accordingly.

@jblackwood: that might not be a bad idea carrying in my backpocket b/c I never have anything back there. Does it feel weird when you sit down?

I carry a lot of stuff around, so a flashlight is usually clipped inside my left front pocket. Sometimes I clip a light inside my back pocket if there's no other room. Another option is a Lummi Raw or Wee on a small lanyard clipped to a belt loop and tucked in a pocket.

Carrying a light loose in a pocket wouldn't work for me.

You need to go get one of them manpurses.

"It's NOT a purse. It's a European carry-all!"

I actually saw a guy walking through downtown the other day with a leather European carry-all on my drive home from work as I was stopped at a light. I started to chuckle as I said the above quote from Seinfeld in my truck. 😀

Nope. I've been carrying a Fenix L0D loose in my pocket for a couple of years with pocket knife, fingernail clippers, and assorted other stuff. Finish is getting pretty worn, but the lens is still nearly perfect. Even if it did get scratched, though, it wouldn't make much difference. Tiny diameter lights are by nature floody.

I use the light just about daily, often several times in a day. I'd find it a nuisance to have to drag out keys, a knife, or other junk with it each time I use it. It's enough light for 99% of my needs -- I carry an additional potent light when I'm out walking at night or have some specific need for one.

i hope the ITP has that quailty used in their lens not the cheap ones!!!!!!

So before it gets here I'm curious how do you guys usually EDC?
I have a Quark AA. Great little light. I either keep it on my hip in the holster or drop it in my pocket if I'm not wearing a belt. It's so small and light that I sometimes forget it's even there.

DX MDXL used as a CR123 holder in an ipod armband case strapped to my ankle, with two spare 14500 cells.

Mini123 on a lanyard around the neck. To be added to a work ID badge once I find another job.

UF A10 on a belt holster or deep pocket carry. Deep pocket carry is courtesy of an old Motorola pager clip as it has a strong spring and good teeth to grip the fabric of the jeans, or a reasonably thick leather belt also.

If I need to carry that much I'll use a backpack, I don't want to lose my Mancard. 😛

for work:

retired: pd30 in a P3d holster (now resides in truck)
cargo pants leg: quark 2aa tact. neut. clipped

EDC:
keychain: fauxton

pocket: either a Ra twisty100 or Qmini123(which will prbly be someones gift, I have to many edc lights 😗)

I work in an office; if I wear anything on my belt, I get teased. My current EDC is a 3AA Dereelight Javelin, and I carry it in my front pocket. Length is not a problem. Let's face it: The top half of most dress pockets goes unused. I used to EDC a 2x18650 in my front pocket; but a body this long can easily slip out onto the floor when you sit on a toilet, and the thicker body invited lewd jokes.

I hope to build a 4AA longbody Javelin, but given the chance that it will slip out unobserved when my pants are down, I'll probably attach it to my keyring so the keys keep it where it belongs.

I don't carry my keys around all day (but I do have a separate one on the key ring).

I don't wear a belt often, and don't like the holster through the belt (i.e. church or restaurant).
T-shirts at work (carpenter) so don't have a shirt pocket often.

I like the holster on a carabiner (or a snap-link).

My everyday light is a $11 DX cheapo (UltraFire C3 Cree 1xAA or 1x14500 Flashlight w/ Holster) It even came with the free holster.
So far it has held up well to daily carpentry abuse - dust, in a tool belt and dropped many times.

Doesn't get knocked off like on a clip, but easily removable and clipped to keys, or stowed in pocket when you want to conceal your flashaholism...

i keep a pd30 in the door of my car, it actually came in handy a couple weeks ago when i was changing a flat on the side of the highway at 10:00

For single AA or single CR123A lights I use one of the stainless steel key ring rope type loops from flashlightlens and thread on a Nite glo ring before attaching to the light.

This makes it much easier to find in your pocket and aids the grip a lot. I tend to put my trigger finger through the SS rope loop and then hold the torch in a closed fist grip, very secure together.

I carry my LOD-Q4 on my key ring, my Quark AA in my right front pocket and my Quark AA2 on my left side in a belt holster.

Normally I E.D.C. a small slinger pack with the strap going diagonally across the front like this one:

Whichever single RCR123 or 14500 light I'm EDC'ing that day gets clipped in that front strap pad and secured with a coiled elastic paracord lanyard that can stretch to about three feet but doesn't reach the ground if the LED falls.

Of course inside the pack ......:naughty:

PELICAN-MICROCASE-1050-SU-VE-TOZ-GECIRMEZ-KUTU__20491710_0.jpg

.....there's a Pelican 1050 or 1060 case with a "bigger gun"(Rapidfire Spear, Tiablo a9, Jet-III M, RRT-2, etc) and spare cells.

When I'm out running I just carry a single flashlight in my hand secured to my wrist with a paracord wrist lanyard.

I carry an Arc-P AAA on a light neck cord. Always wear it except in the shower or swimming. Otherwise, I am never without it. Carry it high over the sternum and it is never in the way.
