There is no such thing as an "881 HID bulb". The 881 is a tungsten-halogen bulb. "HID kits" in halogen-bulb headlamps or fog/auxiliary lamps (any kit, any lamp, any vehicle no matter whether it's a car, truck, motorcycle, etc.) do not work safely or effectively, which is why they are illegal. See here for details, and please keep in mind that discussing illegal/unsafe vehicle lighting components or modifications isn't allowed on this board. If you carry on, sooner or later you're apt to get shut down by a moderator.

881 HID bulb is probably between 1 and 4 inches from base to arc chamber. That is the official spec that all HID kit makers will abide by. 😛

Lollerwhat? If you are looking for an HID replacement for your halogen, don't bother. The filament is transversely placed, making it completely impossible to get anything resembling a decent beam pattern. The best case scenario with using halogen optics with HID is having an H7 projector with the squirrel finders blocked. That's as close as you'll ever get.

light intentionally bled above the cutoff line that is meant to provide light for retroreflective surfaces (creatures' eyeballs included, although I doubt that was the original intent) to reflect back to the driver is known in the headlight retrofitting world as "squirrel finders"

I've always found it a strange name, since the only squirrels appearing above the cutoff would be of the flying variety.
