I'm currently running a PR-T equipped E2e with Pilas, direct-driving an SYOL LuxIII at (or slightly above) spec. According to my bin chart, this should be roughly 65-70 lumens output.

Is it enough? A reasonable person would say yes...

Is there a Sandwich Shoppe Solution that can outblast this rig, run on the Pilas, and give me roughly an hour of runtime??

Reno,

Sorry, I didn't get to your email and respond to your question.

I would have the suspicion that you have one of the best combos for a single Luxeon III and I think others will concur.

The only other thing off the top of my head would be to get a V bin Luxeon III and upgrade your LED to that.

Of course V don't exist, but, if you find one, get one for me too!

An hour of runtime. Look at the amp/hr capacity of your battery. Let's say it is 1A/Hr. That means if you loaded the battery with a load that drew 1A, it would last 1 hour more or less.

In your current configuration, you might be driving more than 1A, which in this theoretical example of 1A/HR would yield less than 1 hour of runtime.

Asking for more light (same LED) would mean driving the LED harder with more current. This will only reduce the runtime.

There is no magic bullet here. No converter board losses to deal with.

I could offer to upgrade to a T ranked LuxeonIII. That should have basically the same runtime and possibly be 10-20% brighter depending on the lux of your LED compared to the T ranked one I find.

Maybe, a 2nd head with a T ranked LED.

Might have to take you up on that, Wayne. If you have any serious contenders in your shoppe, drop me a line...
