I got the SR450A last week and its great. While it is meant to be a thrower it has a good amount of side spill i have use it while walking my dog and was still able to see up close. I have a few photos mostly indoor at this time. Will try to do an outdoor one soon. I haven't had a chance yet how far this light really throws been really waiting for the weather to clear.

Here is the pic of the reflector

I really like how you can use a variety of batteries with this my favorite configuration is using the body of my FR400A on it is my favorite option.

The head on this isn't the same as the others the bezel is metal not the urethane bezel like the others.

Thanks for the info and the beamshots. They look great.
In the comparison shot could you tell me what the three heads are that I'm seeing.

added one outdoor shot

Re: SR450 Indoor shots

I like the shot of the ceiling bounce, it shows how wide the flood is.

Seems to go real far too. Cant wait to get someone with a throw eter and see how it does against the other throw lights like the RRT-1, DBS, etc.

276,
it seems like this goes much farther and also floods much better than the FR400, but with probably a smaller hot spot.
I wonder if i should sell my FR400 and get this bad boy for cop duty since my FR400's lack of flood sometimes is a problem for me at work.

Thoughts?

Re: SR450 Indoor shots

Sorry for the late reply, it floods a lot better than the FR400A and has a much smaller hot spot. I still haven't had a chance to test it at a much father range. The other day i used it in my bedroom vs the FR400A and the spill helped light up the room while the FR400A did mostly what was in the hot spot. With the picture above showing the ceiling bounce shot i tried a shot further away from the wall but my camera cant take the photo from an angle to get it all in.

Re: SR450 Indoor shots

Any new beamshots? I have really been thinking about switching from the Fr400 to the SR450. Only problem is that the head might not fit on my belt.

I saw one of the SR450 beauties the last time I visited Peak. This is NOT a light for a duty belt. Even if the battery compartment fits fine, the head diameter is simply too great for comfortable belt carry. I do recall, however, some old Westerns in which gunbelts were commonly canted down somewhere around the knees on the strong side so there is a bare possibility that in some situations a belt carry might work.

Re: SR450 Indoor shots

276,
Any updates on the throw of this light?

I am really thinking of selling my FR400 and buying this SR450 for police work. I know the head is a bit wide but I think I can still manage to put it on my belt holster.
The Jetbeam RRT-1 is something like 2.2 inches and people use it as a duty light while this thing is 2.7 inches.

Really looking for more input on this light. Problem is I feel that my FR400 just does not have adequate spill.
Thanks

Re: SR450 Indoor shots

I haven't tested anything further than 150 yards which is no problem for it. I will say the spill is a lot better i was using it yesterday night while walking the dog at mainly high and somewhere around medium and the spill was enough to see where i was stepping. Another time i used the light from my bedroom door and point into my bedroom and the spill was enough to light up my bedroom while the FR400 didn't.

Re: SR450 Indoor shots

Only problem is the 2.7 inch diameter reflector.
Someone at work hat the Fenix MC-E lightwith i think a 2.3 inch diameter head and it actually fit alright on a belt.

I was also thinking of ordering a reflector custom from that company that advertises here and putting it in my FR400. I might lose the great width of the hotspot but get more flood. So I am unsure if i will do that or get the SR450.
