I was hoping somebody has seen an output graph of the U2 bins? I know they are rated at 100-118 @ 350mA, but how about at other current levels such as 500, 700 and 1000mA? This info wasn't on previous datasheets I've seen from the company so perhaps somebody can 'shed some light'

From SSC's web page you can download the PDF spec sheets. If you don't already have them. Under "References" the one labeled, "P4 Series Binning & Labeling" is where it says U2's have between 100.0-118.5 lumen output on page 5. The Electro-Optical characteristics measured at 350ma is on page 4 of Pure White, W42180, Emitter PDF. The actual download is X42180. The Star PDF is essentially the same data. Natural and Warm White have lower outputs than Pure White.

On page 15 of X42180.pdf is a graph labeled, "Relative Luminous Flux". This is your missing piece of data. Specs that people quote on emitters are extrapolated from this graph. In combination with page 4 saying absolute maximum forward current is 1000ma and the output at 350ma, a U2 emitter has an output range of 239-283.2 lumens. I used pixel counting in a paint program to estimate the point where Relative Luminous Flux crosses the 1000ma line as 2.39. You'll notice that in this graph, 350ma is rated 1.0 exactly. Everything is relative to the 350ma output.

To be fair, I think they are intentionally vague because there are so many variable involved, and people tend to want an exact answer.
