StealthLite 4AA and Bright Star Responder 4AA

Nope - different manufacturers, different set-up. Responder has a push-button tail switch, the Stealthlight a side-mounted lever switch. Responder has wide/spot focus (and associated beam artifacts), Stealthlite has fixed laser spot, with a better (though not flawless, by any means) beam. Stealthlight is dive-rated, Responder is not (at least that I'm aware of).

I own and like very much the Stealthlite - don't have the Bright Star, so I can't give much in the way of first-hand feedback, though I will say that I think the Pelican products are overall of higher material and build quality than the Koehler-Bright Star products.

I have both and like each for their advantages. The Stealth has an integrated lamp/reflector rather than a potted PR based lamp. The Stealth seems heavier duty and Pelican offers a LA just for rechargeable cells, if you don't want to use alkies. Like Deanster said, the Stealth has a tighter spot. I like the switch on the Stealth - it's more convenient to use. Still, the Responder may be less expensive and allows some experimentation with the lamps.

I used to own the Stealth. I used the rechargeable lamp assembly to get 15,000 candlepower instead of 10,000 with 4AA alkalines. It was just about as bright as the 20,000 cp Pelican "Black Max" rechargeable (M9?) that replaced it, and much lighter.
