Are there any steathy headlamps that give a very discreet beam.

A light that doesn't broadcast your presence.

A light that doesn't say "Here comes that guy with the light on his head".:poke:

An undercover headlamp.:D

stock no. modded yes. it depends how low low is to you. are you talking about people seeing you 100 feet away or 50 feet away?

BTW- zip are you from ASF because it seems like i have seen you there once or twice.

Basically I don't want the source of the light to be visible.
Something like an opaque cone on a flashlight.

Not me.. Must be another zip:eek:

that would be quite hard without producing zero lumens out the front. you may be better off with an IR fillter on a surefire and a IR monocular. but the avarage person can not dish out a few hundred bucks on something like that. i know of a few lights that are like that but no head lamps. a surefire helmet light with a ballcap adapter sounds like the best option but if they got within 30 feet and looked directly at you well... Why exactly do you want this for anyway if you dont mind me asking? for handhelds an early model L1 or a novatac would be perfect

I'd go with night vision goggles/scope for your purposes. All of my peeping Tom friends and I love them. Even the dimmest red LED can be seen by people in their darkened bedrooms when you are right outside their window. :naughty:

Hei Zip
For denied areas the technique of a timed IR STROBE to direct a watchers attention away from your entry point could be considered. Design it for timed shut off after your needed ingress period. Example: on a hill top place a
(bottle)propane torch heating a metal stake with a space blanket arranged as a reflector toward the IR watchers.

Actually just tape the bezel on a low power hand held so a little dot of light comes out and practice short on/off blips of light at home with a mirror until you get the technique down for little or no forward/side spill.

...

You might wait for someone to invent this before expecting a headlamp to have this feature.
