I'm collecting information for building small single led wooden flashlights in my country.

I'm planing for a mid-scale production, so building/manufacturing experiences are welcomed.

Schematics for powering from a single AA or AAA cell will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and greetings from Argentina

I don't know anything about cirquits for small leds but the question fits better in the electronics section.

The dorcy AAA has a nice little cirquit and a led for only 6-7 bucks in the US.

Hello Pablito,

This is an exciting idea, I'd very much like to work with you on it.

I and some friends have been working along very similar lines for a while. While still interested in single cell up converters like you suggest (or as used in say the Arc AAA or CMG Ultras), I still think the best solution WRT efficiency is a multi cell light with a series regulator. While we don't have a wooden one (yet), we do have a prototype built into a piece of plastic pipe. Even though it uses 3 cells, it gets regulated, full power output for an honest 50 hours from 1600 mAh NiMH cells. Parts cost is low, under $2 in even small quantities. Under a dollar perhaps, including LED.

BTW, have you seen the 'Linverter'?

Anyway, please send me a PM?

Thanks.

Today I called local machine shops for mini lathes, because of all the USA retailers I found, no one carries 220v models.

Regarding the suggestion of multicell units, it will be considered, but from my experience in starting projects like this one, its better to start with something small and add new products on the way.

I saw the linverter, but I want to make my own circuits based on schematics found in the web.

Cheers!!
