Storm Checkin

Holy smoke ladies and gentlemen it has been many years and this place sure looks much different. Mister Ed sent me a message and it was simply blind luck that I saw it. I was poking around and decided to see if my old log in info worked and surprise it actually did. It was then I saw the message and thank you Mister Ed for checking on me. I plan to re-introduce myself in an appropriate thread and slowly learn my way around again.

For now southern Alabama is clear and as far as I know the entire state had no major problems.

Calm before the storm here in MO. I need to see what I've missed in the last few years, maybe look into upgraded 6P drop-ins, and emitter upgrades for my HDS and a P2X Fury.

We have friends who live in St Petersburg. They went inland before the hurricane arrived and are okay. My wife is a glass artist and has some of her work in a gallery in St Petersburg. They do take precautions to protect their art before storms, but we have not had a report yet about the impact of Milton. Here in Tucson we're just (Ay Caramba) hot.
I'm from St Pete too, but I moved to Brazil 11 years ago.
So far, all my friends back home only had some minor damage, everyone is fine.
The weather is nice and sunny down here in Northeast Brazil.

North Florida, just outside of Gainesville.
Helene dropped some trees on fences and we lost power for a few days.
Hats off to all the linemen who got North central Florida back online in such a short time. Lines were down everywhere.
Milton, all we got was a day of rain.
Thanks for all the prayers for Florida.

Not too sure why I asked to check in as there are no hurricanes in central Alberta. Perhaps we will get a good snow storm this winter that might shut down the school busses but that's likely the worst we will get.

Thanks for the invitation to check in.

I am in California but have relatives in some of those areas. They all seem to be fine with some power outages.

Interestingly, my experiences with flashlights led me down a path of building rugged portable power systems ( some people call them solar generators ). I offered a few to relatives but they all insisted that being without power for up to a week was acceptable. Not sure what they drink but it would be a big problem for me.

I also help some locally with CERT - a disaster prep / relief group run by fire departments around the country.

An accident a few years ago reduces me to just part time, but still kicking.

Other corner of the corner of the country, just south of Seattle, so no issues.

I do hope for everyone's safety in the affected regions. Back to back hurricanes is a nightmare to me.

We've had several storms hitting our friends in the Southeast.

Please post here, and let us know you're okay!

Good morning Mr Ed. I'm totally safe, as I live in Phoenix, AZ. I will be traveling to Southern Florida next week though, for work and whatnot. Milton is already on its way out, and Leslie is way out to sea, so my timing was good!

Hello there Mister Ed,

Yes I have heard about the new storms down there. I still have to check in with some people I know down there too I have family down there.

Up here in the Northeast we have been lucky so far. Not so in the past though as one storm some years back flooded the whole downtown area, and the electric went out for at least four days. I was hard to buy food because the banks were closed an there was no communication for running the credit card machines, so we had to use hard cash.

Hopefully that does not happen again. Right now everything is very calm.
