How are these? in a local battery shop I found a double stack 4AA propolymer for $21.99. Is that good? or should I get the rayovac 4AA from walmart. I noticed the streamlight has a xenon bulb, so it should be very nice...it had a two part reflector, a smooth towards the outside and a textured towards the inside.

They also had energizer 4AA double stack lights for $10.99. How are these? The reflector looked about 3mm smaller than the streamlight's but of course the price is less too...This also boasted a xenon bulb, no bulb information on eather packaging.

Personally, I would get the Streamlight just because I am a Streamlight fan.

But here are my opinions on each:

The Streamlight gives a better beam, brighter, and is better built. Waterproof to 200ft. The tailcap switch is nice too. I hear the new models have a clickie switch for one handed use. I can't find too many faults with this light, I think its the best in its class.

The Energizer is pretty nice, but the 4AA is a 2X2 paralell so you get a longer runtime, and it is not as bright as either. It is adjustable from spot to flood but the beam is not that great anywhere out of the proper focus point. This light is pretty tough but it isn't knurled or anything so I find it hard to grip with cold wet hands.

The Rayovac is the least expensive and a good economy light but no water resistance and cheaper materials and also I think it has a slide switch. But the 4AA Camper uses PR bulbs and can be upgraded to a Xenon bulb or overdriven for great results.

There is also the Princeton Tec Tec40 which is a nice light. It uses PR bulbs and has a textured reflector, also waterproof to 500 ft. Quite durable and cheaper than the Propolymer, although not as bright.
