Hi all, first post here. I recently bought a SL TT and actually came here to find out what was wrong with it. It wouldnt focus the beam! Well come to find out after some searching, thats just how they are. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Someone suggested stretching the spring, and that actually helped a bit. Not much though. Then i saw the Xenergy mentioned as virtually the same light. Well the review on flashlightreviews lead me to believe that the xenergy has a much tighter focus. Since the wide beam is the only thing that annoys me about the TT, it would seem the Xenergy would be a better option. Sound about right? Are there any other differences between the two lights? Thanks.

How-Do, clange? Welcome to the $$$ abyss. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif The TT was designed more for closer, task, work than for throw. It's a great light for many uses so keep it and get another light for long throw when you need it.

Someone else will have to help you with info about the Xenergy but the SL-TL2 & 3, Scorpion, Pelican M6, and SF-G2 are other 2L's with long throw. There are other 2L and C cell throwers out there too.

Well i have a good 2L, surefire g2z with a p61, my first real light. I guess it kinda spoiled me because the tasklight just didnt measure up (even against the p60). What i had hoped for was a surefire and an LED light in one. The TT is close but not quite there. I'm thinking the xenergy may be closer to that concept.

I'll keep the TT, its a great light. I just have this one gripe. And i know i need to hide my wallet now. You guys arent kidding about that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey Zeus K Riced! So you DO have a SureFire - I had this sneaking suspicion. Seems like most of our new members already have them.

I'm going to rationalize the purchase of my first SF by blaming it on our Newbies. I wonder if my wife would notice another new light?

LOL yes i have a surefire. Like i said, i think it has spoiled me. I did a bit of research and ended up getting a g2z with a p61 lamp for $79+sh. 'WOW' would be a good word to describe it, especially since my best lights before it were mags. Surefires rock. Nuff said.

Anyway, still wondering about the xenergy. If its a TT with a tight beam i'm sold..

"Well the review on flashlightreviews lead me to believe that the xenergy has a much tighter focus."

Glad to see my site being used for reference a lot lately. I'm especially glad to see the new folks coming to CPF are finding it helpful. That's what it's there for!

The Xenergy has a larger reflector and can focus to a much tighter spot, hence the higher "throw" numbers on the comparison charts. I believe the bulb draws more current and produces more light overall as well.

However, the Xenergy is significantly more bulky around the head taper area and heavier.

Yeah i like the site. I browsed it for quite awhile the other night. Found a bunch of cool stuff i didnt even know existed.

As for the xenergy..

TT2L : 1.34" (D) X 5.43" (L) Weight: .337 Lbs

Xenergy : 5.75"L x 1.5"D and weighs: 7 oz. (.4375lbs)

If the manufacturers numbers are right, its .27" inch longer, .16" wider, and 1.6oz heavier. Thanks, i didnt realize that. I'll probably get one still. The tight focus really appeals to me. Apparently they're on sale for $27.95 now too.
