just bought twin task 2L. open it. put battery in. works fine. stupid me took out the 3.0v battery and stuck in 3.7v and my xenon bulb now is gone. LED still works. does anyone know is this because of the 3.7v battery? or did my item came kind of defected. but what other bulbs can i buy to replace the twin task xenon bulb. i would buy streamlight's OEM bulb but it cost a bit too much and is looking for something less expensive but works the same or better. thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 2L takes 2 cr123 batteries and runs at 6 volts? Any very tiny 6 volt bulb should work fine. To my limited knowledge the only bulb that I will fit is the SL 2L bulb because of the tiny opening in the reflector. How did a 6 volt bulb die at the site of a 3.7 volt source? My guess is that you used two of them. I suppose it's possible that the increased current flow of the rechargeable cell may have led to the bulb's demise but I doubt that. It may have just been its time.

well the light it self was brand new. it uses 2 CR123 3.0v battery. i put in 2 CR123 3.7v rechargable battery. and the xenon is gone. the LED is still there though. is this possible or is my item defected?

ok let me clarify my situation here so someone can help me out. im starting to get a little worried. bought brand new streamlight twin task 2L off ebay. came brand new. put in battery that was included. it was 2 CR123 deracell battery rated at 3volts each. everything works great.

then i took out battery, put in 2 rechargeable CR123A battery rated at 3.7volts each. turn it on. my xenon bulb blink and stops working. led continue to work but i turn it off afriad i might burn that or malfunction somethign further. someone help me. i want to buy CR123 rechargable for this light but now i dont know which one to buy that would work with the stock xenon light bulb. is the 3.7v causing the xenon bulb to go out or the rechargable type battery itself?

If you put two R-123 batteries fresh off the charger you put about 8-9 volts through a 6 volt bulb. Chalk it up to your stupidity and order a new bulb. For future reference, don't use 3.7volt batteries where a 3 volt goes unless it's LEd and even then be wary. YOu might be able to use a strion bulb with an 17650 and widen out the reflector opening to fit the new bulb. YOu'd be very pleased if you could get it to work. It might make the LED dimmer. Using two RCR batteries in series, YOu need a 9 volt bulb.

Streamlight says not to use rechargeable CR123 batteries in any of their lights. However, they suggest that rechargeable batteries may be used with LED lights, albeit with reduced performance. See http://www.streamlight.com/faq/.

i got a new set of streamlight twin task 2L replacement bulbs. i put them in, use normal batteries that was supply by streamlight, it works, i also bought some 3.0v lithi. rechargable 1000mah and put them in, they also work. but when i went and charge the 3.0v batteries and put them back in it blew out the bulb again. any ideas? is it because of my charger or the batteries. what options do i have. thank you.

I have a Streamlight 2L also. With the 2L you can use only CR123A Lithium Cells. No rechargeable's at all.

Batteries

Q: Can I use rechargeable CR123 batteries in any of the Streamlight flashlights?

A: No. :tsk: Streamlight products are optimized and the components can be damaged or destroyed by the use of anything other than the recommended battery type. The use of improper or substandard lithium batteries can be especially dangerous.
