hey guys I am new to this all and have a few surefire lights but need an edc for my pocket. I filled out the form below and I am open to all suggestions!!!!
Thanks!

1) How would you prefer to purchase the light?

I will be mail-ordering or buying online, so this doesn't matter.

2) Budget: An easy question, but you may change your mind after answering the rest! 🙂

Less than $300.

3) Format:

I want a flashlight.

4) Flashlight-specific format/size:

Every day carry small (2-4 inches).
Every day carry medium (4-7 inches).

5) Emitter/Light source:

LED (known for efficiency, longevity, and compactness)

6) Manufacturer:

I want to buy a light from a traditional mass producing manufacturer that is ready to go out of the box.
I would consider getting a light that is pieced together (for example a “host” or flashlight body from one manufacturer, and a “drop-in” emitter from another source).

7) What battery type do you want to use?

Any and all that apply (rechargeables are cool with me)

8) How much genuine out the front (OTF) light do you want/need? Sometimes you can have too much light (trying to read up close up with a 100 lumen light is impossible).

I want to illuminate my entire backyard or a campsite (150-300 lumens).

9) Throw vs. Flood: At what distance will you be most likely to use this light? Select all that apply.

5-20 yards/meters (check out a noise in the backyard)

10) Runtime: Not over-inflated manufacturer runtime claims, but usable brightness measured from first activation to 50% with new batteries (Measured on maximum output).

Up to 30 minutes (I want the brightest [and potentially smallest] light for brief periods)

11) Durability/Usage: Generally the old phrase “you get what you pay for” is very accurate for flashlights.

Critical (Police, Fire, Search & Rescue, Caving, Survival).

12) Switch Type and location (choose all that apply):

I want a forward clicky (Helpful for momentary activation and signaling).

13) User Interface (UI) and mode selection. Select all that apply.

I want 2 light levels. (Brighter/short runtime and Dimmer/long runtime.)
I want a strobe mode. (Blinks to show location.)

14)Material/Finish/Coating

I don’t care.

15) Special Needs/extras: Is there anything else you want or need that hasn't been mentioned? Select any below.

Pocket/belt clip
Crenulated bezel

Basically I am looking for a light that has no more than 3 modes, one of them being strobe (very important) and a nice clip for tail up carry.

Funny you suggest that light, as soon as I posted this I saw their link on the top of the page and feel that they are my top option right now.

^^Thats exactly what I was going to suggest based on the idea that he doesnt need major lumens, is willing to spend $200 or more, and wants a smaller, tougher light. But, how long is the current wait for an HDS light? Just a month or two ago there were people here who said they had been waiting for 6+ months to get one. Thats was due to production issues, and maybe thats been dealt with by now. If you can get one, get an HDS 200 Rotary.

I think OP may prefer the Clicky to the Rotary (if the clip is an important requirement), and there appears to be at least one retailer with stock right now of (ceramic coated) Clicky-200 ... as well as standard Rotary.

Typical searches should point the way (or OP may PM me, if more direction is needed) - 🙂
