What Battery is the best? What battery lasts the longest? What Battery is the best Value?

These are questions that we all have on our minds.

Would you be willing to test different kinds of batteries, and post the results here? You seem to have all the equipment, and are always posting graphs of new light that you have purchased, so I think that you would be the ideal person to do this test.

To be done correctly, this would cost some money, and I would gladly PayPal you a buck or two, and I am sure that a lot of other people here on CPF would do the same, so you don't have to start, until you have collected enough funds.

Here is what I am thinking.

Pick a high quality direct drive light, say a Mr. Bulk LGI.

Buy a 12 pack or so of AA batteries of the following:

Ravovac Maximum Plus (blue)
Energizer Max
Energizer Titatinum
Duracell
Duracell Ultra
Energizer Lithium (but only if you want to potentially risk your LGI)
Wal-mart Ever-cell or whatever their name brand is
Sam's house brand (if you are close to one)
CostCo House brand (if you are close to one)

AM I MISSING ANY MAJOR PLAYERS? I think that those are all the major players.

Now for the test. This is just a suggestion, if you have any other ways to make it more valid, go for it.

1. Take 3 Rayovac batteries, just out of the pack, and measure the output in the LGI, for like 2 or three minutes, and record the results. Take the batteries out, and put them in an envelope labeled "reference" (this will test any "toll" taken (if any) on the LGI's LED at the end of the test).

Then graph one set of batteries from each package.

Then graph a second set of batteries from each set, in reverse order.

Then graph a 3rd set, alternating between last and first, second, and second to last, etc.

Then, place the reference batteries back in your LGI, and measure the output.

I realise this is a long test, so I am politely asking you, not at all "demanding" that you perform this test.

Also, I would be willing to chip in, and send some money, if others would also chip in. If we could get 30 or 40 people here, to chip int 1 or two dollars, we should have your expenses covered, but YOU should decide how much you want to raise before starting the test.
