I just recieved 2 sunn battery B90 replacement batteries. I won them from E-Bay for $26.70 w/S&H. I was wondering if anybody had any good or bad experiences.

I called them once, and asked about having a custom B90 made using NiMH sub-c cells. They seemed pretty good about it, but I gave up on custom hardware for some reason around then.

My long time companion 8AX Commander was due for new batteries. (Seriously had these for about 10 years may be more). I thought i give these a shot. We know this flashlight has its limitations as far as modding. On Ebay the photo is the same blue as the SF ones but i received two red ones they have a black collar on the positive end, something like the Stremlight Stinger batteries. Had seen some SF B90s at a Interstate Battery store front, but they were more expensive than the SF website.

Re: Sunn Battery B90 replacement any good? Update

Sorry if this has been brought up or talked about already. Are the SF 8ax Commander and Streamlight Stinger XT batteries compatible? So I ran one of my new precharged Sun Battery B90 replacement battery dim and decided to put it the SF CN400 charger. I did notice the Streamlight collar style on the positive end on the battery when I received it, but just noticed that the Sunn replacement B90 doesnt fit properly on the SF CN300 (B90 charger). The collar prevents from the positve side make contact with the positve end on the charger. Is this a bad Sunn replacement design? The Ebay description did say SF b90 replacement. Do I have an old B90 charger and an old B90 battery style? Did they later come with Streamlight style collar? I have put the Sunn Battery B90 (8AX) in the Streamlight Stinger piggyback charger which lit up the piggyback red led charge indictator. The red led light has not started blinking to indicate it fully charged yet. I has not smoked or generated extreme heat. I put the SL battery in the Commander body (which fit ) and it worked however with the bezel tightened all the way down the twist for constant is not functional this only works in momentary on (tactical) mode. I put the SF B90 in the SL Stinger and it also worked perfect. Now I'm waiting to see if the Sunn battery will charge in the SL charger. I have never tinkered with these two chargers and or thought of doing this, but since the SF CN400 did not work with the Sunn Battery I discovered this. The SF 8AX B90 battery and SL 1.8Ah model 75175 Stinger 3.6v battery are compatible. I would be hopeless if I didnt have the SL Stinger Charger. I'm stiil waiting to see if charge indicator starts blinking. If this works I will only have to have the SL charger for my Stinger XT and my 8AX Commander if I decide to use the Sunn B90 batteries. Does anybody have the SF 8AX and the SL Stinger XT? I'm not an engineer but both lights are incandescent 110 lumen lights are they the same volts and amps? Should the charger work and be good for both?

Hello BIGLOU,

First of all, the CPF regulation for pictures is 800X600. Please re-size your picture.

The 8AX and 8NX lights will work with the Streamlight battery pack, but, as you have figured out, they won't charge on the SureFire charger. The 9AN and 9AN with the Turbo head won't work with the Streamlight battery pack.

I believe the L7 will also work with the Streamlight battery pack.

Thanks Tom this is good to know. Well the Sunn batteries did charge in the SF charger. I slightly bent the positive side metal piece on the cradle and the red light turned on indicating it was charging. I was surprized because the positive side contact was not even touching the positve side of the battery (the collar prevented contact by about 1mm) and it still charged (green led went on). During my search I did find out you were the SF 8AX Commander Guru. I'm at work right now I will resize the photos later when I get home. Sorry.
